Charges Filed In Woman’s Death In Reeds Spring

Charges have been filed in the death of a woman in Reeds Spring.

Court documents say 19-year-old Gavin Justice of Arkansas has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 19-year-old Carmella Knop.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a man running around downtown covered in blood.

They found him in an apartment along with Knop’s body.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of self-inflected wounds.

Man Charged After Fight at Springfield Bar

A man from Springfield has been charged following a bar altercation.

Max Golden has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action.

Springfield Police say Golden allegedly got into a fight at Sweet Boys Bar allegedly hitting the victim and shooting him in the leg before fleeing the scene.

Golden was later located by police hiding under a porch.

He has been denied bond, with a warrant issued for his arrest.

Man From Springfield Drowned at Stockton Lake

A man from Springfield has drowned at Stockton Lake.

The Highway Patrol says the body of a 67-year-old man from Springfield was found floating under a dock at Stockton State Park Marina Tuesday morning.

He was pronounced dead by the Cedar County Coroner.

Revolutionary War Hero From Ozarks to be Honored Sunday

A hero from the Revolutionary War who lived and died in the Ozarks will be honored this weekend.

Private James Barham, who moved from Virginia to Greene County after serving in the Revolutionary War, is set to be honored this weekend by the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Rachel Donelson Chapter.

The chapter will unveil a marker honoring Private Barham and his service on Sunday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Farm Road 175 at 2:00 p.m.

The event is open for public attendance, and the chapter asks that anyone who wishes to attend to bring their own lawn chairs.

Woman Dead, Man Injured in Reeds Spring

One person is dead and another hospitalized after an incident in Reeds Spring.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office says they received reports of a 19-year-old man covered in blood running around downtown Reeds Spring.

He was tracked to an apartment across from the post office where they discovered the body of a 19-year-old woman.

The man was taken to a hospital with self-inflected wounds.

The investigation is ongoing.

Bank Robber Facing Federal Charges

Federal authorities have charged the suspect arrested for robbing a bank in Springfield Friday.

Springfield Police say 30-year-old Oscar Hoskins of Springfield allegedly walked into O’Bannon Bank on Sunshine, demanding money, and left with around $4,600.

He was arrested after a standoff at a house on Loren Street.

Man From Springfield Killed By Bear in Arkansas

A man from Springfield was killed by a bear while camping in Arkansas last week.

The Newton County Arkansas Sheriff’s Department says 60-year-old Max Thomas of Springfield had sent friends photos of a bear in his campground in the Ozarks National Forrest before his death.

His body was found a few yards from camp on Thursday.

The bear was later treed and shot.

Former Parks Director Dan Kinney Passed Away

The former Springfield-Greene County Parks director has died.

Dan Kinney died on September 29.

He was 83 years old.

He served as parks director from 1977 until his retirement in 2006.

Under his leadership the Parks system in Springfield and Greene County grew from 33 to 88 parks.

Kinney also served as the Missouri State Commissioner of Amateur Softball Association.

The former Springfield-Greene County Parks director has died.

Dan Kinney died on September 29.

He was 83 years old.

He served as parks director from 1977 until his retirement in 2006.

Under his leadership the Parks system in Springfield and Greene County grew from 33 to 88 parks.

Kinney also served as the Missouri State Commissioner of Amateur Softball Association.
