Woman Charged With Stabbing Aunt in Brighton

A woman has been charged with an attempted murder of a family member in Polk County over the weekend.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Leona Johnston is charged with first-degree domestic assault with serious physical injury and armed criminal action.

A witness contacted deputies about a woman with multiple stab wounds lying along a highway in Brighton.

The witness said the woman said she was allegedly stabbed by Johnston, who is her niece.

Johnston is in the Polk County Jail without bond.

Shockley Executed

The state of Missouri has executed a man for the fatal shooting of a state patrolman 20 years ago.

At 6:13 PM, Lance Shockley was pronounced dead by lethal injection at the state prison in Bonne Terre.

Shockley was convicted of killing Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Graham in March of 2005 at Graham’s home in Van Buren.

Governor Kehoe denied his clemency on Monday.

Shockley Denied Clemency By Governor

Governor Kehoe has denied clemency to a man convicted of killing a Missouri State Trooper.

Lance Shockley is set to be executed Tuesday for the 2005 murder of Missouri State Highway Patrolman Sergeant Carl Graham near his home in Van Buren.

A judge sentenced Shockley to the death penalty after the jury could not come to a decision.

Juvenile Suspect Arrest After Shooting In North Springfield

A juvenile has been arrested after a shooting in North Springfield.

Springfield Police responded to a shots-fired call near Kearney and Franklin just after 1 PM.

A juvenile suspect was arrested about an hour later at the Kearney and Bolivar.

No injuries have been reported, and the incident is still under investigation.

A woman wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Polk County has been arrested.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested 39-year-old Leona Johnston (pictured above).

Authorities had a warrant out for her arrest.

Greene County Sheriff Releases Names of Two People Found Dead In Home

UPDATE: The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people found dead in a house on North Springlawn Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Detectives say 85-year-old Charles Buckner and 84-year-old Donella Buckner were found dead after a well-being check.

Sheriff Jim Arnott says this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

Construction on New Ambulance Station Begins in Crane, MO

The Stone County Ambulance District has broken ground on a new ambulance station in Crane, MO.

The new facility, which will be located on Highway 143 between Dollar General and Westrip Funeral Home, is being developed through a lease-purchase agreement with Crane EMS, LLC.

The new station will include two ambulance bays and living quarters for emergency crews, and will also house Mercy EMS, who is under contract to provide ambulance response and transport services for the district.

Until construction is complete, EMS crews will operate out of a temporary facility on the north side of Crane.

Man Injured in UTV Crash North of Springfield

A man from Springfield has been seriously injured following a UTV crash on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states that a 69-year-old man crashed around 6:05 p.m. near Missouri Route H, five miles north of Springfield.

MSHP states that the man was driving down Route H when he tried to avoid a cow and overturned his UTV.

He was taken by ambulance to Cox South for treatment.
