Man From Stone County Arrested, Charged With DWI After Wednesday Crash

A man from Stone County has been charged after a serious injury crash on Wednesday evening.

Court dockets show that Jacob Gideon of Reed Springs, MO has been charged with DWI – serious physical injury, which is a felony charge.

According to the probable cause statement, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 9:45 p.m. to investigate a motor vehicle crash.

Highway patrol troopers stated that the crash occurred as Gideon was driving south and hit the rear of a passenger van, causing both vehicles to start sliding.

The van stopped on the right side of the road, but Gideon hit a pedestrian and slid off the left side.

Law enforcement found that Gideon was intoxicated during the crash and arrested him, but he was not taken into custody due to injuries he sustained in the incident.

While being treated for his injuries, Gideon told troopers that he was picking up a pizza and was on his way home when the crash happened, and claimed the passenger van had no lights on and that he crashed into it due to not seeing it beforehand.

Troopers noted that during the conversation, Gideon had slurred speech and that his eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy.

When asked if he had been drinking, Gideon said that he had three shots of alcohol and then refused to take a preliminary breath test.

The statement indicates that a victim received 20 stitches on their face and received treatment for broken bones following the crash.

Gideon’s arraignment is set for December 2.
