Springfield Public Works Release Debris Pickup Update: Zone 3 “Substantially Complete”

Springfield Public Works have released an update on the storm debris pickup in Zone 3.

The pickup in that area is “substantially complete” with very few residences left to sweep.

Debris pickup in Zones 2 and 4 is ongoing for the coming weeks and crews are pushing to wrap up cleanup.

More than 31,131 cubic yards of storm debris has been collected from residences since cleanup began on August 11.

To give a visual comparison, that amount would fill three football fields and stack five feet high.

“We’re estimating we’re nearly 70% done with debris pickup across the City,” Public Works Assistant Director Eric Claussen said in a Springfield City news release, “We are hopeful the remaining zones will progress quickly and anticipate being fully complete with the city-wide debris sweep by the end of October.”

Anyone who lives in Zones 1 or 3 that have debris to still pick up from their residency should call the Citizen Resource Center at 417-864-1010.
