A man from St. Louis, MO was convicted yesterday of a $200,000 Kohl’s Cash scam.
35-year-old Marshall Lampkin was convicted of stealing merchandise by repeatedly re-using Kohl’s Cash for many purchases.
Lampkin would use the Kohl’s Cash to make purchases, usually over $1,000, in-store and then, before the in-person transaction was registered, make online purchases using the same Kohl’s Cash.
Afterward, he would return the items he bought in the store for a Kohl’s Cash refund and repeat the scam.
Lampkin ran the scheme over 100 times at 40 different stores in 13 different states from 2021 to 2022.
He would also sell the items through Facebook.
Investigators managed to recover thousands of dollars’ worth of Kohl’s merchandise.
Lampkin was tried and found guilty of five counts of mail fraud in less than seven minutes by a jury. His sentencing will be in December.
