The father of a Lebanon student who suffered and survived a medical emergency on a school bus Tuesday is accusing the Lebanon School District of not doing enough to get help to his child faster.
David Swan says that his son had a medical emergency on the bus while en route to Lebanon High School; and alleged that people were telling the bus driver that he was having a panic attack, but the driver did not listen to them.
Swan’s son eventually received medical attention and was taken to the hospital, but Swan said that he does not approve of the way school staff handled the situation and that his son should have received help sooner.
School administrators released a statement, saying that student in these events, EMS are contacted as soon as possible, and that student safety and well-being is their highest priority.
Swan believes that the medical emergency could have been prevented if the driver would have listened the first time and stopped to help his son, and hopes that this incident will push for reform in the district of how staff reacts and responds to students’ medical issues in the future.
