Three men were arrested in Baxter County, AR for acting as “money mules”, a spokesman for the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office said today.
According to officials, the three men attempted to enact a scam on undercover officers during an investigation conducted by local, federal, and state officials.
24-year-old Pruthvraj Butiya, 27-year-old Osazuwa Ikponmwosa, and 28-year old Pranav Sharma were all arrested late last week, charged with felony theft and are currently being held under a $25,000 bond.
Butiya and Sharma are also charged with fleeing and are on a Department of Homeland Security hold.
Another man, 22-year-old Gage Thurman, was arrested for obstructing government operations after hindering officers searching for a vehicle.
Investigators believe that there were at least 10 other money mules in the area, but they have since fled.
