Here is a news release with information pickup dates from the City of Springfield:
Approximately 80 volunteers worked alongside Springfield Public Works crews to respond to nearly 400 properties in need of assistance during the Clean Green Storm Debris Volunteer Day on July 24.
Volunteers rallied at three locations in areas with the highest number of assistance requests – Zagonyi Park, Fassnight Park and Sunset Church of Christ. They logged an estimated 320 volunteer hours working under the supervision of Public Works to move storm debris to the curb in preparation for upcoming pickup sweeps.
Public Works will continue to respond to debris staging assistance requests over the next week with a focus on Zones 1 and 3.
“Thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time today to work alongside us. This was truly a community effort and the extra hands made a huge impact,” says Public Works Assistant Director Eric Claussen. “We are happy with the progress we’ve made together today and proud of our work groups for their dedication.”
Public Works Debris Tentative Pickup Schedule
The Volunteer Day activities were separate from the Public Works debris pickup schedule. Public Works neighborhood debris sweeps (debris removal) will proceed under the following tentative schedule:
- Zone 1: August 11–15
- Zone 3: August 18–22
- Zone 2: August 25–29
- Zone 4: September 1–5
Residents do not need to register for these sweeps / debris pickups. They are simply asked to make sure organic debris only is moved to the streetside (without blocking sidewalks, driveways or drainage ditches) prior to their City Council Zone’s scheduled dates.

Important Notes for Residents wanting Debris Removed in August and September:
• Only natural/organic vegetative debris will be collected (limbs, branches, brush).
• No registration is needed for pickup.
• Debris should be placed at the curb or nearest accessible location, without blocking sidewalks, driveways or drainage ditches.
• Debris must be ready by 7 a.m. on the first day of your City Council Zone’s scheduled pickup week.
This effort is part of the City’s ongoing response to the April 29 and June 29 storms, which caused widespread tree damage and infrastructure impacts across Springfield.
