MoDOT has set August 4 as the day construction will start on the new Sunshine Street Bridge project.
The bridge’s initial start date was planned for March, but MoDOT decided to delay the project to address some safety concerns with the MNA Railroad, which runs under the bridge.
The bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, meaning that Sunshine Street from east of Scenic Avenue to west of Marion Avenue could be closed for up to 4 months during the construction.
During the construction, traffic detours will be the James River Freeway, Kansas Expressway, Chestnut Expressway, and US 160.
