Man From Buffalo Charged With Child Sexual Abuse Denied Alford Plea

A man from Buffalo, MO has had his Alford plea to the court rejected.

According to court dockets, Franklin Smith, Jr. was denied his plea on Monday after charges of first-degree statutory rape, first-degree child molestation, and statutory sodomy of a person less than 14 years of age were filed against him in February of this year.

The court reportedly rejected Smith’s plea due to the nature of the charges, the type of plea, and the victim impact.

The court, however, has entered a plea of not guilty on Smith’s behalf after denying his initial plea.

Smith was charged after multiple allegations by victims claiming to be sexually assaulted by him in the late 1960s, all of which Smith has denied to this point.
