A man from Birch Tree, MO faces charges after not returning a child to their mother on Saturday.
According to a post by the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office, Cody Buckner has been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk, parental kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon.
Officers say that Buckner had sent messages to the child’s mother threatening to kill them and any law enforcement that responded.
Police arrived on scene with assistance from the Pulaski County SWAT, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Special Reaction Team, and the Houston PD, where officers ordered Buckner to come out of the house.
Buckner came out holding the child, but officials were able to peacefully talk him down and the child was secured safely.
