Elevated Risk of Wildfires Through This Week

A return of dry air and gusty winds will bring an elevated risk of wildfires to the Ozarks through this week.

The National Weather Service says a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Tuesday from Noon to 8pm, when the greatest potential for fire weather will occur.

Those winds on Tuesday could gust up to 35 to 45 miles per hour.

Springfield City Utilities Helps In Storm-Ravaged Poplar Bluff

A crew from Springfield City Utilities is in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to help with cleanup efforts following an E-F 3 tornado that hit Butler County Friday night, killing one person.

The crew will help with power restoration in the southeast Missouri community.

C-U is part of the Missouri Public Utility Alliance, made up of more than 120 municipal-owned public utilities in Missouri.

E-F-3 Tornado Touched Down In Bakersfield

The National Weather Services has confirmed the Bakersfield tornado was an E-F-3 tornado.

The tornado that struck Bakersfield along the Howell – Ozark County line Friday night was 600 yards wide with winds of 140 MPH.

The tornado killed three people and injured 1 person.

Wildfires Burn 500 Acres in Camden County

More than 500 acres and around 25 structures near Macks Creek in Camden County were damaged by wildfires Friday afternoon.

Camden County authorities say that several firefighting crews from the region battled multiple fires being spread by high winds.

Several Macks Creek residents had to leave their homes.

Camden County authorities are assessing the damage.

Convoy of Hope Teams Responding to Storm Damaged Towns

At Least 11 Dead in Missouri Tornadoes, 3 Killed In Bakersfield

Tornadoes left a trail of destruction in communities from the southeastern Ozarks to the Missouri Bootheel and St. Louis area late Friday night.

A tornado hit the town of Bakersfield near the Ozark/Howell County line around 8:30pm Friday, destroying homes and businesses in the area.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says three deaths have been confirmed in Ozark County, with the sheriff confirming the third fatality to the patrol.

Six deaths were reported in Wayne County in southeast Missouri, as well as one fatality in Butler County and one in Jefferson County.

The National Weather Service reported a large tornado debris signature emerged from the tornado that tracked through the Bakersfield area. Radar showed debris reaching at least 18,000 feet into the air as the tornado passed through. This is indicative of a strong tornado.

A tornado was also reported at the Moody Fire Department in Howell County. Golf ball size hail was reported in the Nebo area. We’re getting reports of multiple houses destroyed along County Road 9000 in Howell County.

The Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies are urging residents in these communities to avoid debris-filled areas and to watch for downed power lines.
