Part of Lone Pine Shutting Down This Week in Galloway Area

Lone Pine Avenue in Springfield will close for about two weeks (weather permitting) between Barton and Galloway streets beginning Monday.

The city of Springfield says crews will be connecting the roadway to the newly built roundabout intersection.

Galloway Street remains open to eastbound traffic only between Bellhurst Avenue and Lone Pine, while eastbound to northbound traffic will still be able to get through at the current Galloway and Lone Pine intersection.

North and southbound motorists are being advised to detour around the work zone using Republic Road to Glenstone or Republic Road to Mentor Avenue/Ingram Mill.

Pedestrian Killed by Hit-&-Run Driver on I-44

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on I-44 near the National Avenue bridge Sunday morning.

Springfield Police say a woman was hit by a driver in the westbound lane around 8 AM Sunday.

The driver didn’t stop.

I-44 had to be closed for a brief time during the investigation.

Springfield Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash call them with information.

Late Night Saturday Storms Bring Hail and High Winds to Parts of the Ozarks

 

Thunderstorms that moved through the Ozarks late Saturday night and early Sunday morning brought hail up to the size of ping pong balls and damaging wind gusts to several areas.

We had reports of ping pong ball size hail north of Collins in St. Clair County around 11:35pm Saturday, along with half dollar size hail reported in El Dorado Springs, and quarter size hail in Cape Fair down in Stone County.

Wind damage occurred in Laclede County, with a report of a barn destroyed and large trees down in the Morgan area.

We’ve had reports of hail covering the parking lot at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, with quarter size hail reported in Falcon.

Dime to quarter size hail was reported as a storm moved through the Joplin area late Saturday night.

Fatal Head-On Crash in Springfield

One person is dead and another hospitalized after a head-on crash in Springfield Saturday.

Springfield Police say the crash happened in the 4400 block of South Fremont near Republic Road when a car collided with an S-U-V.

One driver died in the crash and the other driver is hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say speed played a factor.

Kimberling City Apartment Fire Investigated as Arson

A fire that damaged a Kimberling City apartment complex is under investigation.

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection and several area fire departments responded to a fire around 5 AM Saturday at the Oak Apartments.

All the residents were evacuated safely.

Kimberling City Police say the fire is being investigated as an arson and they have identified a suspect.

MSHP Searching For Missing Boater at Truman Lake

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is searching for a missing boater on Truman Lake.

The Patrol says 40-year-old Christopher David Salmons has been missing since last week.

He disappeared from the Clear Creek Cove area, near the Tebo Island Wildlife Area north of Warsaw.

The Patrol is asking for people to stay out of the area during the search.

Springfield Police and the Springfield Fire Department are investigating a fatal fire in a church parking lot.

Firefighters responded to a shuttle bus on fire early Thursday morning at the Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church on West Atlantic Street.

Firefighters contained the fire, but a person inside the bus died later at a Springfield hospital.

Republicans in Missouri Legislature Continue Fight to get Legal Abortions Off the Books

You can bet Republican lawmakers will continue their fight to get abortions off the books in Missouri when they return from spring break.

More than 60 bills and resolutions related to abortion have been introduced this session.

Voters passed Amendment 3 by a narrow margin of 51.6% to 48.4% in November.

The amendment enshrines the right to an abortion in the Missouri Constitution.

Planned Parenthood’s clinic in Columbia resumed abortions this year.
