Springfield Flags at Half-staff Saturday

Flags at Springfield city owned facilities will be lowered to half-staff Saturday in memory of Larry Flett.

Flett died Monday at the noble hill sanitary landfill when the articulated dump truck he was driving overturned and caught fire.

Here is a statement from Mayor Ken McClure:

Under the authority of the attached letter received from the Office of the Governor, I am directing that the flags of the United States, the State of Missouri, and the City Of Springfield be lowered to half-staff on all facilities owned by the City of Springfield from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, March 29 in memory of Larry L. Flett, who passed away March 24 in a tragic accident at the Springfield Sanitary Landfill. In addition to being an employee of the City of Springfield, Mr. Flett served in the Springfield Police Department as well as the United States Air Force.
