Snow Moving Out, High Winds All Day Wednesday

While highways across the Ozarks are mainly wet Wednesday morning, the snow that fell early in the morning has created visibility problems.

As of 7:45am, nine crashes and several stalled vehicles were being reported in the Springfield metro area, including wrecks on I-44 and Highway 65.

The MoDOT Traveler Information Map is reporting mainly wet roadways in southwest Missouri, with parts of Highway 13 north of Springfield and Highway 60 east of Springfield partly snow covered.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6:00pm Wednesday for Barton, St. Clair and Vernon Counties to the north and west of Springfield, where up to 60 mile per hour wind gusts out of the northwest could bring down trees and some power lines.

We’ve had reports of several hundred power outages in the Ozarks Wednesday morning, including 200 in Barry County, with other outages in Dade and Polk Counties. Springfield City Utilities is reporting around 60 outages as of 8:00am.

Most of the Ozarks is under a Wind Advisory until 6:00pm Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour. Unsecured objects will be blown around, and tree limbs could come down.
