SGF Fire Department Trains for Ice Rescues

The Springfield Fire Department Water Rescue Team has been training for ice rescues.

They trained Friday on safely breaking through ice, self-rescue operations, and victim movement maneuvers.

The Springfield Fire Department says 250 Americans die from falling into icy ponds, lakes, and streams.

The fire department says if see a person fall through the ice, you should call 9-1-1, maintain a voice and visual contact with the victim, but do not try to rescue them on your own.
