Springfield Police are holding a woman in the Greene County Jail for her alleged involvement in a shooting that injured a man late last week.
Officers say the shooting happened Saturday night, December 7, at around 7:00pm when a man reported being shot twice.
When investigators arrived, they found the victim with gunshot wounds to the face and chest. He told police that Rose McClain was the suspect who shot him.
SPD conducted a search of the area, and found her hiding in the backyard of a nearby home, lying in the grass.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but has since stabilized and is expected to recover.
Reports are that the victim was living in McClain’s garage in exchange for yardwork at the home, but that the two had engaged in several arguments in recent months.
When she was arrested, police say McClain was in possession of a controlled substance.
She is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting.
McClain is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on $100,000 bond.
