Respiratory Illnesses Rising in Southwest Missouri

Health officials with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department are warning residents of the increasing number of respiratory illnesses being reported across the Ozarks.

According to reports, the number of cases concerning COVID-19, the flu, and whooping cough are on the rise, among other illnesses.

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season quickly approaching, healthcare experts are helping people be better prepared to be around young children and older relatives in celebration.

Dr. Sadas Sohrab from Mercy Hospital in Springfield says that vaccinations are incredibly important in preventing the spread of illness and disease, along with exhibiting great personal hygiene.

Frequently washing your hands, covering your mouth when coughing, sanitizing surfaces, are considering among the best ways to prevent illnesses from being passed from person to person.
