Longtime Broadcaster, and Springfield Area Sports Hall of Famer Rob Evans Passes Away

After over 40 years on the mic, legendary area broadcaster Rob Evans has passed away.

Evans, a Springfield native, graduated from Missouri State University in the early 80s and went on to a career in play-by-play for minor league baseball that spanned over thirty years (1984-2012).

He was also a fill-in for the Montreal Expos during the 2003-2004 seasons.

He also did play-by-play for Missouri State Women’s Basketball and Football from 2008 to 2013.

In recent years, Evans was the play-by-play voice for Blue Springs South athletics with Sideliner Sports.

He passed away Sunday after an extensive cancer battle. Evans was recently honored as a new inductee into the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame back in October of this year.
