Firefighters are battling a blaze along Glade Top Trail near Ava.
The fire started Monday night.
Forest service officials say the fire has burned more than 15-hundred acres and is now 60 per cent contained.
The fire started in downed cedar trees and timber litter, but authorities have not said how the fire started.
Forest service officials are asking the public to use alternate routes and avoid the Glade Top Trail for now.
A man from Jasper County is being held in the Greene County Jail after he allegedly beat a woman severely in Joplin.
Investigators say Rajab Jones approached the woman seeking a relationship with her last Wednesday, October 23. When she turned him down and said that she wasn’t interested, authorities say he became enraged.
The victim told police he beat her repeatedly, causing several serious injuries. After the assault, she was able to convince him to drive her to an area hospital with the promise she would not report him.
However, police were called after her arrival at the hospital.
A warrant was served at Jones’ home on Friday, October 25, along Chestnut Avenue near Route 66. Authorities say he refused to cooperate with police and would not leave his home.
SWAT units were called to the scene, and were successful it getting Jones out of the home without further incident.

The Salvation Army of Springfield has opened its registration for the Angel Tree Program.
The program provides gifts and essential items for children of needy families during the Holidays. Parents wanting to register their children can do so online at SAAngeltree.org until November 8th, or in person from November 4th through November 8th at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway.
Two major polling locations for the November 5 election will now be at different locations.
In a release from the Greene County Clerk’s Office, the Central Polling location for the county will now be at Great Southern Bank Arena on the Missouri State University at 685 John Q. Hammons Parkway.
The location for N. Republic A precinct voters will now be at Republic Middle School on Tiger Drive just off of Hines Street.
According to Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller and his office, the changes are due to anticipated voter turnout being very high.
If you are effected by the polling location changes, Schoeller says that notices have been set to reflect the change.

One person is dead following a vehicle crash between a car and a motorcycle along State Highway Z near Willard.
Investigators say the crash happened about two miles north of Willard early Monday morning near Farm Road 54, when a motorcycle between pushed by two pedestrians was struck by a car.
One of the two, 28-year-old Gabrielle Henson, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a Springfield resident.
The other pedestrian was transported to Mercy Hospital with moderate injuries.
