Man from Humansville in Custody, Allegedly Opened Fire on Two People

A man from Humansville is being held in the Polk County Jail after authorities say he shot at two people following an argument.

Investigators say Timothy Heidemann was working on a vehicle at his home on East Fisher Street Tuesday morning when a man and woman parked on the edge of his property.

According to the two, they were there to do an appraisal of the home when he began shouting at them that they couldn’t park the car there.

The argument escalated between the man and Heidemann, as witnesses say Heidemann got physical with the man, slamming him into his vehicle.

The witness told police Heidemann then ran into his home, then two gunshots were fired.

Heidemann admitted to firing two shots, one in the air and another towards the vehicle of the two victims.

After the second shot, the man and woman fled the scene in the vehicle, which sustained damage to the passenger window and front windshield.

Detectives interviewed Heidemann, who admitted that he had, “done something stupid.”

He is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of property damage.

Homeless Man Sentenced for Home Invasion in Springfield

One of two homeless men accused of breaking into a home in Springfield will spend decades in prison for his role in the crime.

Investigators say Justin Lentz and another suspect, William Rush, broke into the home of an elderly couple on North Farm Road 171 in February of 2023.

The couple told police that when they answered the door, the two men forced their way inside, sprayed them with chemicals, physically assaulted them, duct taped them together in the kitchen, then robbed them.

After the initial robbery, Lentz and Rush allegedly took the couple into the basement, tied them up again, and assaulted them further before fleeing in the victim’s Ford Mustang.

The two were able to free themselves and call authorities, who tracked the stolen Mustang to a nearby neighborhood, and were able to arrest both men.

Lentz pleaded guilty to ten different charges in the case back in April of this year, and was sentenced this day to 20 years in prison.

Rush, his co-defendant, will begin a jury trial on October 7. He faces similar charges to Lentz.
