Absentee Voting for Greene County Starts

Absentee Voting will start next week in Greene County.

The Greene County Clerks Office says absentee voting will begin September 24 for eligible voters who cannot go to their regular polling place on November 5th.

Absentee ballots can be cast between 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday at the Greene County Elections Center on Booneville Ave.

Homebound or out-of-town voters can request a ballot by mail, either handwritten or using a printable form from the county clerk’s website.

They must be signed by the voter and received by the county clerk’s office by October 23.

Nixa Schools Have Second Bomb Threat In 2 Days

For the second time in two days the Nixa Police Department investigated a bomb threat at a Nixa elementary school.

This time the threat was at Espy Elementary School.

A news release says Nixa Police evacuated the students, reunited them with their parents, set up a command center and performed a sweep of the school.

They found no suspicious devices were found.

The threat came through a suicide hotline for veterans and was made from the same I-P address as yesterday’s threat.

It turned out the I-P address had been spoofed.

Nixa Reacts To Bomb Threat At Elementary School

More information is being released about a bomb threat on Wednesday that lead to High Pointe Elementary School in Nixa being fully evacuated.

The threat was made via a single chat message on a suicide hotline, that threat was then reported to Christian County 911 at 12:20pm.

Officers then responded quickly to the scene, secured the outside area, and allowed students and staff to evacuate.

Authorities believed to have a potential suspect after tracking the threats source to an IP address in Kansas City, but after interviewing the man who owns that IP, it was determined he had no connection to the Nixa area, and he himself was a victim of “IP Spoofing”.

Several teams including law enforcement and counter-terrorism units me this morning to continue to investigate.

In a statement, the city of Nixa thanked first responders and school officials for their swift response, and excellent work.

Mountain View Issues Boil Order

The city of Mountain View has issued a boil water order until further notice.

City Utility Clerk Tiffany Young says there was a water main break.

Residents on East Third Street between Jackson and Marr Avenues will need to boil water until the city receives clean test results from Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Bomb Threat at High Pointe Elementary

Nixa Public School’s have reported a bomb threat at High Pointe Elementary School.

Chief Communications Officer Zac Rantz says they have evacuated the building and all the students are safe.

Students were reunited with their parents around 1:30 PM.

Those riding the bus went home on their regular bus schedule.

The City of Nixa released a statement saying that Nixa Police are on the scene and investigating.

He says they will have more information later.

Suspect in West Plains Drug Trafficking Bust Sentenced to Probation

One of four suspects in a large drug trafficking conspiracy that was busted in West Plains will serve several years of probation for his role in the crime.

Heather Stouffer was sentenced earlier this week on four counts of delivering a controlled substance. The judge handed down a three-year suspended prison sentence in favor of three years of supervised probation.

Stouffer was inside a hotel room in West Plains in March of this year when West Plains Police executed a search warrant. During the search, officers found 70 capsules containing fentanyl, several used syringes, pill bottles with more fentanyl tablets, and a bag suspected of having meth inside.

The other three suspects, Daniel Alderliesten, Julie Nickels, and Amy Smith are still awaiting sentencing or court dates.

Man from Springfield Pleads Guilty to Sexual Misconduct Charges, Prosecutors Say He’s a Repeat Offender

A man from Springfield will a history of sexual misconduct will spend several years on probation after pleading guilty to similar charges once again.

Investigators say 22-year-old Noah Stovall took a plea agreement on Monday, September 16, and was sentenced to five years in probation for three-counts of first-degree harassment.

He was prime suspect in up to five different cases of masturbating in front of women in public, including while following them in his vehicle, and another involving a former co-worker.

These charges and accusations began shortly after he turned 18 back in 2020.

The co-worker accused Stovall of sending her sexually-explicit photos, videos, and text messages that she did not ask for, nor did she want.

COPS Filming In Springfield

The television shows COPS is filming in Springfield with this Greene County Sheriff’s Department this week.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office signed a contract with the long running TV show in April of 2023.

The Sheriff’s Office says in a Facebook post the episode which will air on September 27 has begun filming.

The Springfield Police Department also signed a new contract with the COPS production company.

They have been featured several times and were last on COPS in 2022.

Pierce City Man Dies In Head-On Crash

A man is dead after a hear-on crash on US 60 near the Granby city limits.

The Highway Patrol says a car driven by 19-year-old Nathanial McCamish of Pierce City attempted to pass a tractor trailer truck on a hillcrest, when another truck came over the hill and crashed into the car head-on.

A passenger, Shawn McCamish, also of Pierce City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities in Ash Grove Searching for Stolen Dump Truck Belonging to the City

Officers with the Ash Grove Police Department are investigating after a city dump truck was stolen.

Investigators say the truck was stolen from the Public Works parking lot sometime between September 13 and September 16, likely over the weekend.
