Dangerous Flash Flooding in the Ozarks Wednesday Morning

Heavy rains led to flash flooding in the Springfield metro area and other parts of the Ozarks Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service says between 4 and 7 inches of rain had fallen in western Taney County by 7:00am Wednesday.

We had reports Roark Valley Road was closed in the Branson area just before 7:00am, with 4.9 inches of rain in one hour in that city.

Taney County dispatch reported flooding and road closures.

We had numerous Flash Flood Warnings issued by the National Weather Service Wednesday morning, including western Taney County, Greene, Christian, southwestern Webster, southwestern Douglas, Stone, Jasper and northern Newton Counties.

Most of those warnings expired before noon.

A flood warning remains in effect for Taney County until 7pm Wednesday. Just before noon, the Missouri Department of Transportation reported flooding from the previous heavy rain. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain had fallen in a 12-hour period in the Branson and Hollister areas, with Bull Creek continuing to have elevated water flows.

Nixa School Board Votes To Raise Teacher Pay

Teachers in the Nixa Public School District are getting a raise. School Board President Joshua Roberts says every teacher will get a raise of between 4.5% and 5%. 

Roberts says the district has also added bereavement leave to its benefits package. 

The board also made changes that will allow teachers to get raises even after 30 years of teaching. 

Roberts says the raises and other benefits will help the district stay competitive in attracting and keeping teachers.

Shots Fired at Branson Intersection

Branson Police have arrested two people for firing shots at another vehicle.

Officers responded to a call Tuesday morning of shots fired around the intersection of Shepard of the Hills Expressway and Little Pete Road.

Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle and officers tracked it down.

The suspects were arrested.

Investigators say those involved knew each other and this was not a random shooting.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Four-Year-Old Marionville Girl Drowns

A four-year-old girl has drowned in a swimming pool in Marionville.

Aurora-Marrionville Police Captain Pat Jenkins says officers responded to a home Monday night.

The girl was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora, but later died.

Captain Jenkins says police believe the drowning was accidental.

Humansville City Employee Facing Election Offense Charges

Humansville Utility Clerk Sophia Piper is being accused of preventing some candidates from filing their paperwork to run in the April election.

City Clerk Tiffani Jenkins filed a complaint with the state in in march claiming Piper would make it known she was trying to keep the same people on the Board and that certain seats were already spoken for.

Piper has a court hearing set for August 5th.

Donald Trump Announces Vice Presidential Pick

After months of swirling questions, President Trump announced his pick for Vice President at the Republicans National Convention in Milwaukee. JD Vance, a first-term senator from Ohio gets the nod.

Vance rose to popularity on the heels of his book “Hillbilly Elegy” released in 2016. Though Vance was strongly against Trump in the first half of his 2016 term, he has since given Trump his full support. Trump’s VP pick also served in the Military, earning the rank of Corporal in the Marines.

Missouri Legislators React To Attempt On President Trump’s Life

Missouri’s Senior U.S. Senator is asking Missourians to “pray” for former President Trump after the assassination attempt over the weekend. Hawley is also calling for a full, public investigation by Congress.

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt also weighed in, asking for prayers and sharing a statement directly from Trump stating was okay.

The top candidates for Missouri Governor, Mike Kehoe, Jay Ashcroft and Bill Eigel, made statements calling for prayers, and unity.

Missouri Supreme Court Overrules Motion To Withdraw Warrant Of Execution

The Missouri Supreme Court is overruling a motion to withdraw a warrant of execution for Marcellus Williams, who claims he didn’t commit the murder that landed him on death row.

He’s scheduled to be executed on September 24th, but a ruling to determine his innocence is scheduled to take place August 21st in St. Louis County

Ozarks Lunkers Partnering With Make-A-Wish

The arena football team known as the Ozarks Lunkers are partnering with the Kansas and Missouri chapters of the Make-A-Wish organization in order to send a Springfield child to Disney World.

The seven year old boy was told at halftime of Saturday’s game that he’d be going to Disney in the near future.

The child was brought up in the foster care system before being adopted in 2017, he’s also been fighting stage three kidney disease.

F-B-I Warns Child Sex Trafficking Fugitive May Be In Missouri

The F-B-I says a fugitive on its Ten Most Wanted list may be in Central Missouri.

Donald Fields II is wanted for child sex trafficking and has been on the run from the law since 2022.

F-B-I agents say he may be working at cash jobs like tree trimming to support himself.

Fields has a large tribal print tattoo near his right shoulder.

The F-B-I has a reward of up to 250-thousand dollars for information leading to fields’ arrest.
