Fassnight Pool Closed For Repairs

Fassnight Pool will be closed for a few days for repairs.

The pool closed Friday and will remain closed until further notice.

Friday afternoon the pool staff discovered that a portion of the pool shell had come loose in the shallow end.

The pool would have to be drained to repair the problem.

The draining began Friday after the pool closed.

Officials Lift Boil Order for Camden County Following Low-Pressure Issues

A boil order that was put in place in parts of Camden County due to low pressure problems with the water system has now been cancelled.

County officials maintenance on one of the wells caused the pressure problems, which forced residents in the following areas into the boil advisory:

  • Shawnee Bend
  • Porta Cima
  • The Villages

The maintenance was eventually completed, and water pressure was restored to normal levels, causing the boil order to be lifted.

99-Year-Old Man from Bolivar Thought to Be Only Surviving Son of a Civil War Veteran

99-year-old Bill Pool from Bolivar is one of the few surviving veterans of World War II, which is historic, but there’s something even more unique about his life.

Pool was born in 1925 to a mother in her mid-thirties. His father, Charles Pool, was 80-years-old.

Charles was born in 1844, and served in the Civil War as member of the Sixth West Virginia Volunteers in the Union Army.

Bill joined his father in the service, joining the U.S. Army in 1941 to serve in World War II. He saw action in France, Germany, and Austria, including taking part in the famed “Battle of the Bulge” in the Ardennes Forest.

Even his mother, Clara, made history in her own wrote. She was the last widow of a Civil War veteran to draw benefits from the government. She passed away in 1990 at age 102.

Bill will turn 100 in January of next year.

Political Campaign Sign Vandalism Under Investigation

Fair Grove Police are investigating the vandalism of several election signs in the city.

Police Chief Roy Howell says signs for candidate Jim Danderson were stolen, moved, or painted on.

Voters will decide Tuesday whether to elect Danderson or Kelly Petty to the ward 2 City Council seat.

A new election was scheduled after multiple ballots were issued incorrectly in April.

Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Springfield Crash

A motorcyclist was injured in a crash in Springfield Thursday night.

It happened at the intersection of Glenstone and Kearney. Springfield Police say a Chevy H-H-R was leaving a parking lot when it stuck the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries.

Nobody in H-H-R vehicle was injured.

Stockton Man Charged in Fatal D-W-I Crash

A man has been charged with D-W-I after a crash in Cedar County in April that killed another man.

Edward Hargrave of Stockton has been charged with a felony count of D-W-I after a breath test revealed his blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit when he struck a John Deere Gator driven by 50-year-old-Joey Gray of Stockton on County Road 1801 with his truck.

Gray died later at a hospital.

Woman from Stone County Missing, Search Underway

Authorities in Stone County are searching for a 19-year-old woman who has been presumed missing for two days.

Stone County Sheriff’s deputies say Haven Shelton was considered missing on June 11.

She is described as five-feet tall, 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing jeans and a black camo sweatshirt.

Authorities say she has a diagnosed mental disability, and does not have a cellphone or any significant amount of money in her possession.

Lockwood Boy Struck By Semi In Driveway

A five-year-old Lockwood boy was killed in an accident involving a semi-truck in a driveway in Reeds.

The Highway Patrol says the semi-truck was running in a driveway, when it went into gear and rolled forward, striking the child.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jasper County coroner.

Endangered Silver Advisory For Nevada Man

There is an Endangered Silver Advisory for a Nevada man.

Nevada Police and the Highway Patrol have issued an Endangered Silver Advisory for 63-year-old Eric Strom who walked away from a senior living facility Wednesday morning.

Strom is a white male with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

He is 6 feet tall and weighs 220 pounds.

He was wearing a blue shirt and jeans.

He has been diagnosed with dementia.

If you see him, you are asked to call 9-1-1 or the Nevada Police Department.

Missing Ft. Wood Marine Behind Bars

A Marine reported missing from Fort Leonard Wood has been arrested.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department says Private First-Class Kavian Elder is in custody at their jail after being arrested by U-S Marshals and the Bourbon Police Department Tuesday night.

Elder went missing on May 3.
