Tennessee Chief Medical Examiner Releases Autopsy Report on Riley Strain

Over three months after he went missing after being kicked out of a bar in Nashville, the Tennessee Chief Medical Examiner has officially revealed the cause of death for Kickapoo graduate and former Mizzou student Riley Strain.

He and his fraternity brothers were on a trip to Nashville when he was escorted out of a bar downtown on March 8. His body was found two weeks later along the banks of the Cumberland River in West Nashville on March 22.

According to the report, Strain has a blood-alcohol level of .228, which is nearly three times the legal limit of .08 for BAC.

The report also showed that he had Delta 9 in his system, a chemical derived from marijuana.

The medical examiner determined that Strain’s death was accidental. The exact cause of death was listed as “drowning and ethanol intoxication”.

Man from Springfield in Custody, Accused of Drug Charges and Shooting Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy

A man from Springfield is in jail, and a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering after a shooting incident near the intersection of Blaine and Fremont.

Authorities say they arrived at the home of 41-year-old Theodore Davis Monday afternoon to serve an arrest warrant.

Davis was wanted on multiple felony drug charges. However, when deputies arrived he became hostile, and opened fire.

He fired several shots outside the home, with one bullet hitting a deputy in his specialized protective vest that included a rifle-plate to protect from gunfire.

The officer avoided life-threatening injuries, and the latest report from medical personnel says he is in stable condition.

After the initial shooting, Sheriff Jim Arnott says more deputies, and members of the Springfield Police Department, arrived at the scene. At its height, more than 100 law enforcement officers were on site to set up a perimeter around the home.

A short while later, authorities were able to talk Davis out of the home to surrender peacefully.

He was booked into the Greene County Jail on drug charges, but will soon be officially charged with crimes stemming from the shooting and standoff.
