Death of Suspect After Arrest Ruled An Accident

The Greene County Medical Examiner has ruled the death of a suspect at the Greene County Jail in March was an accident.

The medical examiner says 53-year-old Darrell Thorne died of asphyxiation by forcible restraint, methamphetamine use, and heart disease.

Thorne was under the influence became combative.

He was placed in a restraint chair.

A jailer noticed that Thorne was unresponsive and the jailer administer Narcan and C-P-R.

He was transported to a hospital where he died five days later.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has launched an administrative review.
