Teenage Girl from Republic Reported Missing, Authorities Searching

Officers with the Republic Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teenage girl.

Investigators say Ashley Herrera, 17, has been missing for since Thursday, February 22.

Information is limited, but police say she is 5’3, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Jury Trial Set to Begin for Woman from Springfield in Death of a Child

A woman from Springfield accused of neglecting a child, leading to the baby’s death, will soon go on trial.

49-year-old Deborah Lundstrom was arrested in March of 2022 after an eight-month-old suffocated in her care at a home on North Washington.

Investigators say Lundstrom admitted to leaving nine children unattended for over 10 minutes to make a pickup at Hillcrest High School.

During that time, the infant was restrained in a car seat and reportedly suffocated, likely do to the chest clip.

Lundstrom is charged with:

  • Operating a child care facility without a license
  • Eight counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child
  • One count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death
  • One count of first-degree manslaughter

Her trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Current Weather Conditions Could Lead To Fires

Recent weather conditions have led to several Counties issuing fire weather warnings.

Red Flag rules that ask residents to avoid burning of any kind have been given in Taney County, and several others throughout Southern Missouri.

Weather Officials say the several fires that have broken out across the Ozarks and places like Eastern Oklahoma could lead to smoky and hazy skies for the next several days.

Springfield Porch Pirates Charged

Two people in Springfield have been charged with stealing packages off porches.

Colten Crotwell and Daisy Hall are each charged with one felony count of stealing as well as four misdemeanor charges. Springfield Police also released information on how you can avoid having your packages stolen.

Police advise citizens to have packages either delivered to your workplace or the post office if you don’t believe you’ll be home when the packages arrive, and install doorbell cameras where packages are likely to be placed.

Sedalia Officers Injured In Stabbing

Two Highway Patrol Troopers are in the hospital after an altercation at a home in Sedalia on Saturday.

Officers were called with reports of a disturbance on State Fair Boulevard and found a man who has not yet been named with a knife. During the fight that ensued both officers were injured with knife wounds, but were able to fire shots at the suspect who was then confirmed dead at the scene.

The names of the officers and the extent of their injuries have also not yet been released to the public.

Springfield Standoff Ends With Man In Custody

A man in Springfield is in custody after an hours long standoff that ended Monday morning.

The incident began Sunday night as the suspect barricaded himself in his home on Weaver Avenue at about 8:30pm. The man was known by Law Enforcement and had several warrants out for his arrest.

The standoff finally concluded at about 1:45am Monday with the man being brought into police custody.

Lawn and Garden Show at Fairgrounds

The 34th annual Lawn and Garden Show is at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The show started Friday and runs through Sunday.

The show features equipment and products for the Lawn and Garden as well as seminars on everything from beekeeping to maintaining a pond.

The Beginning Of The End For Four Day School Weeks?

Four day school weeks in Missouri may be a thing of the past. 10 years ago the General Assembly approved four day school weeks but now, a push is being made by some lawmakers to go back on that.

Those against the 4 day week claim its being used as a perk to hire and retain teachers, which was not the original purpose.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released a report recently stating the 4 day weeks have almost no impact on education.

Two Dead and Two in Custody in Springfield Shooting

A shooting early Thursday morning in Springfield will leave two men dead and two others in custody.

Police arrived at the 200 block of East Erie just before 1am. The men in custody were caught shortly after the incident at the intersection of Campbell and Walnut Lawn.

Witnesses drove the injured men to a nearby hospital, but they did pass away shortly after. Names have not yet been officially released.

Man Arrested In Jasper County For Filming People in the Shower

A man is being held in the Jasper County Jail on $15,000 bond on eight charges of invasion of privacy.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies say 38-year-old Uriah Behl allegedly recorded employees of a circus with a cell phone while they were taking a shower.

At least one juvenile had been recorded while showering.

The sheriff’s department says Behl does not have a permanent address.
