Christian County Leaders Officially Closing Green Bridge

Drivers in Christian County will now be looking for a different route, as area officials announced the closure of the Green Bridge.

The bridge, which is located on Smyrna Road over the Finley River, will shut down on February 8 at 6:00 a.m. after MoDOT officials said the bridge was unsafe.

The county does not expect the bridge to be repaired due to the damage, meaning a new bridge will have to be constructed.

Plans for the new bridge are already in place, as well as the funding, and construction will begin sometime this year.

Green Bridge was opened in 1912 and is a one-lane crossing over the river. Traffic can be as high as 350-400 cars per day.

New Voter I-D Cards Coming To Mailboxes Throughout Greene County

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller says new voter identification cards will be delivered by mail between now and next week.

Schoeller says this biennial mailing is required by Missouri law to help keep voter registration roles up to date.

The identification cards list important information for voters, such as assigned polling location, ward or township, and legislative and school districts.

There have been many precinct boundary line adjustments with redistricting following the 2020 census.

Schoeller encourages voters to check their cards when they get them and ensure all information is correct.
