Car Crashes into Coyote’s in Nixa

A car crashed into Coyote’s Nixa Grille Sunday.

A manager at the restaurant says a customer accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake when pulling up to the restaurant.

Security camera footage showed the car going into the front of the building, then backing out. No one was injured.

Lawmakers in Missouri Proposing Law Allowing Murder Charges for Abortion

With the next legislative session beginning next month, some Republican lawmakers in Missouri are pushing for abortion to be considered murder.

Republicans in both the state House and state Senate are filing bills for the next session that would make abortion in the state punishable by a homicide charge.

There are exceptions included in the proposed bills, including women who got abortions due to verbal or physical threats, or if the abortion was performed to prevent the mother’s loss of life.

State Senator Mike Moon, who represents part of southwest Missouri, is sponsoring one of the bills.

Juvenile Crime on the Rise

Greene County Juvenile Division Officials say crime involving juveniles seems to be increasing.

Chief Juvenile Officer Bill Prince says this year has been one of the worst for juvenile crime since he has been at the division.

Prince says there are about 12 kids in detention now and about 5 are in for homicides or gun related violence.

Search for Hit and Run Suspect in Fatal Crash

Highway Patrol Troopers are looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a man near Salem.

Troopers say 83-year-old David Davis was crossing Highway 32 about 3 miles East of Salem when he was struck and killed.

Troopers say they do not have a description of the vehicle that hit Davis.

Fatal Crash Involving Willard School Bus

A teenage driver is dead after a crash on Highway 266 involving a Willard school bus.

The Highway Patrol says an S-U-V pulled from a parking lot and struck the school bus forcing it across the center line.

The school bus struck a pickup head-on before hitting a utility pole.

The 17-year-old girl driving the pickup died at the scene.

The Willard School District said there were no students on the bus at the time.

The driver of the S-U-V and bus driver were taken to Springfield hospital with injuries.

Highway 266 was closed because power lines were down in the roadway.

Springfield Murder Suspect Accused of Assaulting Mom, Girlfriend

A man from Springfield accused of murder is now facing additional charges for allegedly assaulting his mother and girlfriend.

Investigators say Jacob DeJong murdered a 74-year-old man in December of 2021, but was released on bond.

He was arrested last week following to domestic violence incidents.

Prosecutors say DeJong choked his mother on December 1 after she supposedly hid alcohol from him.

A few days later, he allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend, kicked her in the stomach, causing her to fall off the bed.

DeJong’s girlfriend is pregnant, according to police.

He is being held in the Christian County Jail on the domestic abuse charges. His trial for second-degree murder is scheduled for April of 2024.

Buc-ee’s in Springfield, Missouri’s First Location, to Open December 11

Springfield natives and fans of the popular Texas convenience store chain Buc-ee’s are gearing up for the opening of the first location in Missouri, right here in the Ozarks.

The new Buc-ee’s, located on Beaver Road between I-44 and Farm Road 104, will officially open on December 11.

The store will open its doors at 6:00 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. that same day.

The 53,000 square foot facility will be open 24 hours per day and features 120 gas pumps for customers, plus a wide-variety of snack and food options day and night.

This is Buc-ee’s 47th location, and the furthest north the gas station chain has expanded up to this point.

Boil Order in Parts of Texas County

Public Water Supply District #1 in Texas Counuty has issued a precautionary boil order.

District officials say a problem with a well in Success prompted the order.

The boil advisory applies to customers on Highway 17, Highway AP, and on Highway AA from Success to Bucyrus, and also on Highway 32 through Success.

Osage Beach Drug Discovery

Police in Osage Beach have seized more than 200 capsules containing suspected fentanyl.

Officers and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force excecuted a search warrant at a home on Parkwood Circle early Monday.

Judith and Michael Arbogast were taken into custody at the residence.

Officers seized 22 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two pistols, cash, and several items of drug paraphernalia.

Charges Presented In Convenience Store Incidents

Springfield Police have presented charges for five juveniles and one adult in a series of burglaries and vandalism at a convenience store.

The incidents happened at the Eagle Stop on North Grant between August and November.

The Greene County Juvenile Office and The Greene County Prosecutors Office are reviewing the case before filing formal charges.
