Man Causes Disturbance at Springfield School

A man was arrested after causing a disturbance at a Springfield elementary school.

Robert Teichman is facing charges of unlawful use of a weapon at a school and trespassing.

Springfield Police say Teichman was angry about backed up traffic around Immaculate Conception School.

When school security officers were escorting him out of the school, he allegedly grabbed one of the officers by the shirt.

Police discovered he had a loaded revolver with him when they were arresting him.

The school was placed on lock down.

Investigation Underway after Two People are Shot, Killed at Senior Living Facility in Branson

Police in Branson are investigating after two seniors were shot and killed at an apartment complex.

Officers were called to the Branson Manor Apartment, a complex for senior citizens, for a report of shots fired.

They arrived Thursday morning and found two people shot and killed.

The investigation is in its early stages, but police say it is not an active shooter situation.

The identities of the two victims have not been released, but investigators do say they are acquaintances and that it is unlikely anyone else was involved in the shooting.

FBI Searching for Dangerous Fugitive in the Springfield Area

Authorities with the FBI are asking for the public’s help in locating a fugitive considered armed and dangerous.

Melvin Morgan, aka “Yoshi” was charged in federal on numerous drug-related charges, including:

  • Three counts of possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine
  • Possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking
  • One count of a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Investigators say Morgan has a criminal history, and was last seen in the Springfield area.

Morgan is a 30-year-old black male, and is described as 5’6″, 150lbs with tattoos on his neck, chest and arms.

A photo of Morgan is attached below, and officials are also placing billboards up around the city.

Law enforcement recommends not confronting Morgan if you see him, and to immediately contact authorities.

Springfield Police Receives Grant to Install More Flock Cameras

Springfield City Council has approved a $20,000 grant to be used for Springfield Police to fight crime.

Springfield Police Department will be using the grant to install 7 new “flock cameras.” These cameras are installed on light poles and are used to read license plates to better track suspects.

The department currently has installed 21 of these cameras around town, and believes that these cameras will help cover high trafficked intersections that are not currently covered.

Fire Closes Forsyth Supermarket

A grocery store in Forsyth is closed after a fire.

Firefighters responded to the Country Mart store in Forsyth early Tuesday morning.

It is believed the fire started in some straw bales outside the store and spread inside.

Eleven fire crews worked almost five hours to put out the fire.

The fire is under investigation.

The store is closed, but the pharmacy drive-thru is still open.

Springfield Police Have Photos of Tractor Trailer Involved In Pedestrian’s Death

Springfield Police have released photos of the tractor trailer which ran over a pedestrian last week.

The trailer is a 53-foot, white box trailer, manufactured by Walbash.

The tractor is a white sleeper cab with the number “274” on the front fender.

The license plate number is 740 – 644.

Springfield Police say even though they have the plate number, they would like the name of the driver.

I-44 Bridge over Pickerel Creek in Greene County Reopened

After months of construction that began in May, a new bridge along I-44 over Pickerel Creek is open.

The original bridge was demolished this summer as part of an area project to replace 25 bridges in southwest Missouri.

Officials say the bridge features new barrier walls, improved guard rails, and more noticeable striping along the pavement.

While construction is complete, there may still be some nighttime lane closures while contractors complete finishing details on the project.

Man from Laclede County Charged with Child Sex Crimes

A man from Laclede County will be due in court soon on charges related to child sex crimes.

Investigators say Donald Haney would touch the children while they were at sleepovers, with some of the crimes going back as far as 2019.

He is charged with child molestation and statutory sodomy.

Haney was released, but will be back in court to stand for his charges in November of this year.

Fire at Crosswinds Apartments

Firefighters battled a blaze at a southeast Springfield apartment complex.

The fire was at the Crosswinds Apartments on Ingram Mill Road Tuesday evening.

The building was evacuated.

The Springfield Fire Department had to use areal trucks on the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.

Dump Truck Crash Closes HWY J Bridge

A section of U-S 60 is closed after a dump truck stuck a bridge east of Springfield Tuesday evening.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department says the Highway “J” bridge, near Rogersville, was struck by a dump truck.

The impact knocked the dump truck bed off the truck’s frame.

The bridge and the Westbound lanes of U-S 60 will be closed until a safety investigation can be completed.
