Man from Springfield Arrested for Stealing Air Conditioners

A man from Springfield is facing theft charges for allegedly stealing air conditioners from area businesses.

Investigators say Brandin Hylton stole at least three air-conditioning units from businesses in Springfield between July and August of this year.

An accomplice to the crimes say he and Hylton stole as many as 15 units. He is not facing charges at this time.

Hylton told authorities that he had been dealing with an ongoing drug abuse problem and had several relatives who had fallen ill, which led to the thefts.

He is charged with three counts of stealing at this time.

Fugitive with Connections to Springfield Arrested in St. Louis

A man who is known to frequent the Springfield area has been arrested on St. Louis on federal drug charges.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Melvin “Yoshi” Morgan was arrested earlier this week on a list of charges including:

  • Three counts of possession with the intent to distribute meth, fentanyl, and cocaine
  • Possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking
  • One count of a prohibited person in possession of a firearm

The FBI had been searching for Morgan since the charges were filed in August.

Billboards were put up around the Springfield metro area in the search for Morgan, who has been seen in the area numerous times in the past.

A potential court date has not been released at this time.

Price Increases Possible for Stamps in ’24

It will likely cost you more to send mail in 2024.

The US Postal Service says it may increase stamp prices for the second year in a row, citing pressures from inflation.

If the increase is approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission, the price of a first class stamp would go up two cents on January 21st from 66-68 cents.

Rogers Doctor Accused of Medicaid Fraud

An arrest warrant has been issued for a psychiatrist from Rogers, Arkansas who is suspected of Medicaid fraud.

Doctor Brian Hyatt is accused of using the highest billing procedure codes for patients but not providing the medical services.

Hyatt was the Director of Behavioral Health Unit at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

Court documents also show Hyatt is accused of being frequently absent from the office and spending little time with patients.

Nixa Police Searching for Armed Robbery Suspect

Officers with the Nixa Police Department are asking for the public’s help in searching for an armed robbery suspect.

Investigators say the suspect robbed the Signal gas station at the corner of Mount Vernon Street and Village Center at around 1 a.m. Monday morning.

The cashier at the convenience store told police the man walked in, put a backpack on the counter and pointed a gun at them.

He told the employee to put the money in his backpack, then he left. Police responded a few minutes later.

The suspect was seen on video footage wearing black shoes, black and yellow gloves, a face mask and a black hoodie with “Boot Daddy” and “Ariat” written on it.

Woman Stabbed by Uncle During Domestic Dispute in Springfield

A woman from Springfield is recovering in the hospital after she was stabbed by her uncle.

Springfield Police were called to the scene Monday morning at a home on Walnut Street near Kansas Expressway for a reported domestic dispute.

When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from a knife wound.

She was rushed to an area hospital, where her injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The suspect fled the scene and is still on the run at this time. A description has not been released.

Man Arrested in Airport after Pursuit

A man is in custody after a pursuit that went through the Springfield Branson National Airport.

Authorities say witnesses saw a man outside his truck near the airport hitting the ground with a weapon, but when officers approached him the did not find a gun.

The man then drove his truck onto airport property, then got out of the vehicle and ran into the airport.

He was arrested by airport police and a Greene County Deputy, and did not make it through security.

House Fire in West Springfield

Fire has damaged a house in West central Springfield early Monday morning.

The fire started shortly after 8 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Grant, just South of Walnut Street.

No one was in the home when the fire started.

The roof partially collapsed as fire crews worked to bring the flames under control.

The fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.

Brown Derby Robbed by Man with Airsoft Gun

A man has robbed a Springfield business by using an airsoft gun.

Joseph Hutchinson held up a Brown Derby on October 2nd by pointing an airsoft gun at the cash register and yelling, “This is a hold up!”

Hutchinson was arrested on October 4th after being identified by tattoos on his hands.

He is being charged with first degree robbery.

Convoy of Hope Launches New Facilities

Convoy of Hope has launched it’s new headquarters in Republic.

Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization that provides disaster relief across the globe. Their world headquarters has been based in the Springfield-metro area, and unveiled their new facilities in Republic, MO on Thursday.

Several notable people attended the ceremony, including Governor Mike Parson, Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe, and Congressman Eric Burlison.
