Man from Springfield Facing Charges after Crash and Chase at Springfield-Branson National Airport

A man from Springfield is facing numerous charges after a car chase ended in a crash and a foot-chase at Springfield-Branson National Airport.

58-year-old Gary Edwards was arrested on Sunday, October 8 after police say they attempted a traffic stop on Edwards vehicle.

He fled police, causing a chase before he crashed into an airport gate and onto the runway.

Authorities say Edwards later drove back through the gate, onto several different curbs in the area and then left his car and ran into the airport.

He was arrested inside the airport a short time later.

Edwards is charged with damaging and interfering with an air navigation facility. The case is being prosecuted by the DOJ and U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore.
