MSU Board of Governors Give Pres. Smart a Raise

Missouri State University President Clif Smart will get a raise.

The M-S-U Board of Governors is recognizing President Smart’s strong management and leadership skills as president during the fiscal year 2023.

President Smart will receive a five percent raise and a 25-thousand-dollar retention bonus at the end of the year.

The Board commended President Smart on his ability to increase enrollment post-pandemic and fund-raising ability.

Man from Springfield Stabbed in his Home; Suspect in Custody

A man from Springfield is suffering from serious injuries after being stabbed by a burglar in his home.

Officers say they were called to a home on Lakeridge Avenue in Springfield Sunday afternoon, where they found the homeowner with a severe stab wound.

He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect stole several items from the home, including the victim’s credit card.

The credit card was used at a business nearby, where officers arrested 36-year-old Jacob Miller.

He has been booked in the Greene County Jail. The specifics of his charges haven’t been released.

Tyson Closing 2 Missouri Plants

Tyson Foods is closing four chicken plants, including one in Noel, Missouri.

The company says it’s shifting production to other facilities.

Back in the Spring, Tyson laid off 15 percent of it’s senior leadership and 10 percent of it’s corportate workforce.

Operations at the four plants, including one in Dexter, Missouri, will stop in the first half of 2024.

Deadly Weekend Shooting Under Investigation

Springfield Police are asking for anyone with information on a deadly shooting over the weekend to come forward.

Police say when they responded to a business on Kansas Expressway near Water Street, officers found two men with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries, while the second victim, Larry McCoo from Springfield, died at a local hospital.

Detectives say a suspect has not been identified, but they know multiple people were present during the incident.

Springfield Symphony Orchestra Bringing Back Ballet

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with the St. Louis Ballet for yet another performance.

The orchestra will be performing Tchaikovsky’s “The Sleeping Beauty” will the help of the ballet.

The performance will take place May 11, 2024 to conclude the Symphony’s 89th season.

Tickets go on sale August 9, and can be purchased at the Hammons Hall Box Office.

Nixa Police report that Madelyn Price has been found safe.

Nixa Police wish to thank all those who helped spread the word about the search for her.

Madelyn had been missing since Tuesday.

Two People Found Dead In Branson Apartment

Two people were found dead in an apartment in Branson Friday.

Branson Police were asked to make a well-being check at the Penleigh Apartments on Francis Street near Missouri 76.

Police say there were no signs of foul play.

An autopsy will be performed Monday.

High Heat in the Ozarks Today

It’s another day of extreme heat and humidity in the Ozarks, with an excessive heat warning in effect for areas West of Springfield from this afternoon through 10 tonight.

Dangerous heat index readings up to 110 are expected.

The rest of the Ozarks is under a heat advisory. Drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks in the shade or in air conditioning and know the signs of heat stroke.

Nixa Police Searching for Missing Teen

Police in Nixa are searching for a teenager girl they believe ran away from home.

Madelyn Price was seen leaving her home in Nixa at around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1 with her dog.

The dog is a black Australian Shephard/Pitbull mix.

She was last seen in the parking lot of Stone Meadow Apartments getting into a car with unknown people.

Price is described as 16-years-old standing 5’9″, 120 pounds with black hair and blue eyes.

Police say they don’t believe she is in any danger, but urge you to contact them at (417) 725-2510 if you have any information about her whereabouts.

Man from Springfield Hospitalized with Multiple Gunshot Wounds

A man from Springfield is in serious condition after being shot multiple times at a home in the northwest part of the city.

Investigators say the shooting occurred at the intersection of Heartland and Scott in Springfield early Friday morning.

By the time police arrived on scene, the victim was already being driven to the hospital.

The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds. HIs identity has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say they have yet to identify any suspect(s) at this time.
