Truck Driver Safe After Large Fire

A truck driver escaped without injury after his truck caught fire on I-44 early Sunday morning.

The truck caught fire near the Eastbound 173 mile mark.

Doolittle rural fire protection district officials say the truck was carrying about 75-hundred pounds of copper wire.

Fire crews disconnected the tractor from the trailer, preventing fuel from catching fire.

The fire was caused by the truck’s brakes overheating and catching fire.
