Police in Springfield are searching for a second suspect in the shooting death of a teenager last month.
Officers were called to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Forest and Calhoun the night of April 17.
When they arrived, they found a car at the intersection. Inside the car was 18-year-old Lavelle Rose III dead from multiple gunshot wounds, and a female driver with multiple gunshot wounds.
The woman was taken to an area hospital. She survived her injuries and is recovering.
Police say an investigation was conducted and an initial suspect was identified in 21-year-old Justin Bartels.
Further investigating found that a second suspect, Xavier Moore, was also involved in the shooting.
Bartels was arrested, and is facing charges of second-degree murder.
Moore, who authorities believe shot Rose, is charged with first-degree murder, along with other charges.
He is still at large as of the time of this writing.
If you have any information about Moore’s whereabouts, contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810 or call Crime Stoppers at (417) 869-TIPS (8477).
