Last Ditch Effort to Save Hotel of Terror

Hotel of Terror owner Sterling Mathis made a last ditch effort to save his building Monday afternoon.

The City of Springfield has been trying to claim eminent domain over the property to complete the Main Street Bridge project, offering what the City claims is ‘fair market value’ for the site.

Mathis was told that he had not submitted enough valid signatures to send the issue to a public vote, and needed to provide 401 more by the Monday afternoon deadline. Mathis managed to gather over 800 more signatures, and submitted them one hour before the deadline.

If the signatures submitted do not contain 401 valid submissions, there will be no third chance.
