Branson Police Investigate Roommate Shooting

Branson Police are investigating a shooting involving two roommates.

Eric Broehme is facing domestic assault and armed criminal action charges.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot on Aaron Way.

The victim had been shot in the abdomen and was rushed to a hospital.

The victim told investigators that they were having an argument about money and did not know that Broehme had a gun.

Broehme is being held in the Taney County Jail without bond.

Man from Springfield Accused of Beating Woman with Tire Iron

Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office say a man from Springfield is in custody after allegedly hitting a woman with a tire iron.

59-year-old Timothy Larue faces charges of first-degree domestic assault, third-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.

Authorities were called to a home on February 16th for a domestic violence situation, where they discovered a woman with multiple lacerations and blood across his body.

The victim told deputies that Larue kicked her in the stomach and punched her in the face, then began repeatedly hitting her in the face with the tire iron.

Larue has pleaded guilty to all three charges. He is being held in the Christian County Jail.

City of Springfield Acquiring Hotel of Terror

The City of Springfield has voted unanimously to use eminent domain to acquire the Hotel of Terror.

The city wants to use the property to extend the Jordan Creek channel North to reduce flooding and repair the Main Street bridge.

The city and the building’s owner, Sterling Mathis, have been unable to agree on a purchase price after several years of negotiations.

15-Year-Old Student in Custody in Connection with Threat at Willard High School

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says a teenager is in custody for allegedly making a threat towards students at Willard High School.

School officials contacted deputies on February 20 to report the threat, saying it came from a fellow student.

Following the report, the Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT unit and area detectives executed a search warrant on the suspects residence.

The identity of the suspect has not been released, due to the person of interest being 15-years-old.

Prosecutors have not filed charges yet, but the student is being held at the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center on probable cause.

Endangered Person Advisory for Strafford Woman

Strafford Police are asking for help finding a missing woman.

Authorities are searching for 27-year-old Michele Chavdarov.

She was last seen at her home on Shawnee Street around 2 A.M Tuesday.

She called her mother from Springfield around 6 A.M saying she needed help.

She is 5 foot five, 230 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes.

She was driving a dark blue Ford Edge with a Missouri license plate CW-4J-4K.

Second of 3 Charged in 2018 Triple-Homicide in Springfield Sentenced

The second of three suspects accused in a triple-homicide that occurred in Springfield has now been sentenced.

Prosecutors say Aaron Anderson was sentenced to four life sentences for the 2018 deaths of Josh Hampton, Sabrina Starr and Steven Marler.

He pleaded guilty in January to two counts of accessory to first-degree murder, and two counts of accessory to first-degree assault.

Investigators say the man who pulled the trigger, Luis Perez, was roommates with Hampton and Marler, and killed them after he was kicked out.

Starr allegedly provided him with the gun used in the shootings, and she was found dead days after the initial murders.

Perez was sentenced in January to five-consecutive life sentences.

The third suspect, Dalia Garcia, will appear in count for a tampering charge in March of this year.

Damaging Winds Possible With Fast Moving Storms in the Ozarks on Wednesday

Damaging winds and up to penny size hail will be possible with storms expected to develop across the Ozarks Wednesday morning into the early afternoon.

The National Weather Service says a few showers and storms will be possible across southeastern Kansas into central Missouri Tuesday night into Wednesday.

A line of showers and thunderstorms will then move from southwest to northeast across the area Wednesday morning and afternoon.

Damaging winds will be the primary risk with the strongest portions of the line.

Instability will be rather weak, but there will be strong shear to support the possibility of severe thunderstorms.

Absentee Voting Begins for April Elections

Today is the start of absentee voting in Missouri for the April 4th election.

In order to vote absentee by mail, voters must submit a handwritten request or complete the form available at Greenecountymo.gov. The requests must be signed by the voter and received by the County Clerks office no later than 5 PM on March 22nd.

The ballots must be notarized, returned by mail, and at the County Clerks office before 7pm on election day.

Notable Springfield-born Star Dead at 69

An Academy Award and Golden Globe winning songwriter from Springfield has died.

Tom Whitlock died Friday in Tennessee following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Whitlock was best known for writing the song “Take My Breathe Away,” and co-writing “Danger Zone,” both part of the popular soundtrack for the movie Top Gun.

Whitlock graduated from Glendale High School and moved to California in 1983.

“Take My Breathe Away” won an Academy Award for best original song in 1986.
