Man from Howell County Accused of Murdering His Father

A man from Howell County is in custody, accused of killing his father in West Plains.

Deputies say 34-year-old Christopher Greenough called dispatchers to report that a man had a nosebleed.

Dispatchers reported the man sounded drunk and agitated during the call.

Investigators say when first responders and deputies arrived, Greenough was difficult and at times combative. They also reported that he was covered in blood.

Deputies say they had to force their way into the home. Once inside, the discovered David Greenough covered in blood and a large pool of blood on the floor next to him.

The father was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Deputies arrested Christopher at the scene. Prosecutors later charged him with second-degree murder.

Life Sentence Handed to Strafford Man

A two year murder investigation has come to a close with the handing down of three consecutive life sentences to the man who murdered his wife, and in-laws.

Jesse Huy, in March of 2021, called 911 reporting that he had shot his wife, and her parents because he wanted them to leave and “I got tired of it and killed all three of them.”

Huy had changed his plea to guilty without any plea agreement.

Missing Teen from Ava Found Safe

Amber Townsend, 14, of Ava, MO was reported missing on January 14th by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

Monday. the department reports that she has been found safe and unharmed.

Townsend was located in Springfield with her non-custodial parent.

Man from Springfield Dead after Crash in Branson West

A man from Springfield is dead following a car crash in Branson West.

Police say 36-year-old Brent Sexton was driving his Ford Explorer along Highway 13 in Branson West Monday morning when his car went off the road.

According to investigators, after veering off the road, the car flipped before going into an embankment and catching fire.

Sexton was ejected from the vehicle, and later pronounced dead at the scene.

Man from Aurora Could Face Assault, Kidnapping Charges in Alleged Abduction

A man from Aurora is in police custody after turning himself in for an alleged kidnapping in Lawrence County.

Police say they were searching for Nick Morris early Sunday morning after he was accused of kidnapping Andrea Wilson.

Morris elected to turn himself in, and told officers at the precinct, “this is completely false.”

Aurora Police Chief Wes Coatney believes he could face charges of first-degree assault and kidnapping.

Prosecutors, however, say no formal charges against Morris have been filed at this time.

Sound Wall Construction on James River Freeway

Crews have begun installing a sound wall on James River Freeway between National and Campbell. The work will cause lane closures.

Crews will be working on Westbound James River Freeway from 7 AM- 3 PM each day. The National ramp to Westbound James River Freeway will be closed from 7 PM- 6 AM.

Attempted Child Abduction in Ash Grove

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an attempted abduction in Ash Grove.

An 11 year old girl told deputies that she was playing in her backyard Friday when a man grabbed her and tried to take her to a truck. She was able to get away.

The girl described the man as 5’11” and weighing about 200 pounds.

The make and model of the truck are not known, but the truck is black with stock wheels and scratches around the wheels.

New Marijuana Rules Recommended in Springfield

New rules are being recommended after the Springfield Planning and Zoning Committee voted on where new marijuana dispensaries in the city can be placed.

Officials say some of the rules include no dispensaries being located within one-thousand feet of a school, daycare or church, and must close at ten p.m. The city council will vote on the proposal on January 23rd.

Agape Boarding School to Close

The Agape Boarding School near Stockton will close on January 20th. The religious boarding school has been the subject of numerous lawsuits and criminal cases involving the physical and verbal abuse of students.

A doctor at the school was also charged with several counts of sexual misconduct. U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt called for the school’s closing during his time as Attorney General.

Teenager from Springfield Accused of Burglary to be Tried as an Adult

Prosecutors in Springfield say an 18-year-old accused of burglary when he was 17 is being charged as an adult.

Court records show Zamarus Corley has been charged with first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.

Investigators say he approached a home on South Main Street looking to rob the home.

The two residents of the home were woken up by Corley pointing a gun at them, demanding money.

Authorities say the two victims were able to get the gun away from him before other residents of the house get to the room to help subdue him.

Corley was one month away from turning 18 at the time of the crime.

In a court hearing earlier this week, a judge ruled that Corley will be tried on all four counts as an adult.

A criminal hearing in his case has been scheduled for February 14 at 8:30 a.m.
