Grant Program Awards Missouri Over $250 Million for Broadband Internet

Residents in need of internet statewide could soon have their needs met following a more than quarter of a billion dollar grant from the federal government.

Governor Mike Parson says that the state was awarded the grant from the Department of Economic Development, or DED.

Officials say the total grant is $261 million and will be divvied out to 60 different businesses and groups for various projects.

A statement from Governor Parson regarding the announcement can be found below:

“We’re proud to announce the recipients of the Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program, which represents a major step forward in strengthening Missouri’s internet connectivity. Our goal with American Rescue Plan Act funds is to make investments that have a lasting, positive impact for Missourians statewide. Today, we have accomplished that for broadband expansion, which is vital to supporting education, health care, business, and agriculture in today’s economy.”
