Prosecutors in Springfield say an 18-year-old accused of burglary when he was 17 is being charged as an adult.
Court records show Zamarus Corley has been charged with first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.
Investigators say he approached a home on South Main Street looking to rob the home.
The two residents of the home were woken up by Corley pointing a gun at them, demanding money.
Authorities say the two victims were able to get the gun away from him before other residents of the house get to the room to help subdue him.
Corley was one month away from turning 18 at the time of the crime.
In a court hearing earlier this week, a judge ruled that Corley will be tried on all four counts as an adult.
A criminal hearing in his case has been scheduled for February 14 at 8:30 a.m.
