Sales Tax Proposal May Hit April Ballot in Nixa

City leaders in Nixa are working to get a tax initiative on the April ballot.

A one cent sales tax increase to fund the police and parks department was voted down last November. Both departments have been making budget cuts ever since.
The new tax proposal calls for a three quarter cent increase. City officials estimate it would generate 3.1 million dollars.

The Nixa city council will hold a public hearing at city hall Thursday to decide on putting it on the April ballot.
