Walmart Door Greater Injured Stopping Shoplifter

A door greeter at a Walmart store in Springfield was injured while trying to

stop a shoplifter. The door greeter at the store on East Independence tried to

stop a woman and was pushed. The door greeter had minor injuries. Police say

the shoplifter was about 5’9” and wearing mostly black clothing. She was with

an unidentified man.

Springfield Police Investigate Murder/Suicide

From a Springfield Police Department News Release:

Springfield, Mo. – On Dec. 3, 2022, at approximately 7:03 p.m., the Springfield Police Department was dispatched to 731 W. Whiteside Street after receiving a 911 call that two people were inside with gunshot wounds. When officers entered the residence, they discovered a male and a female deceased inside.    

The Springfield Homicide Unit investigated the crime scene and determined the male suspect, Lavare W. D. Everett, 44, shot and killed the female victim, Christina M. Lopez, 45. Everett then died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  

Both Everett and Lopez are from Springfield. Both families have been notified.       

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).

This incident marks the 17th homicide investigation for 2022.

Missing 10-year-old Found Safe

Springfield Police say a missing 10-year-old girl has been found safe. Tamiah

Kendrix disappeared Monday afternoon from the 26-hundred

block of North Cresthaven. Police say she had told friends she was going to

run away from home. Police did not say where Kendrix was found.

Rain in the Ozarks Wednesday and Thursday

Get out the umbrella….widespread rain is expected in the Ozarks from late

Wednesday into early Thursday. The National Weather Service says amounts of

one to three inches are possible along and South of Interstate 44. Isolated

flooding is possible, with rises along waterways. No severe weather is

expected.

Westbound I-44 Shut Down Between Chestnut Expressway and James River Freeway Exits West of Springfield

Both lanes of westbound I-44 have been shut down west of the Springfield city limits at the 69.2 mile marker following a crash early Tuesday morning.

We had reports that emergency vehicles were blocking the left lane of eastbound I-44 in that area, but that lane closure is no longer in effect as of 7:30 a.m.

Westbound traffic is being forced to exit at the Chestnut Expressway exit.

KOLR-10 is reporting two crashes in that area Tuesday morning, with one of them involving a car where the passenger had to be extricated, and another involving a semi-tractor unit and two dump trucks.

There’s been no information released on injuries.

Arrests Made in C.A.R.E Animal Rescue Case

Two men have been charged with stealing a trailer from C.A.R.E Animal Rescue

behind a facility on West Battlefield on November 19th. Daniel Butts and Robert

Hopkins are being held in the Greene County jail on a 25-thousand dollar bond.

C.A.R.E Animal Rescue officials had hoped to get the trailer back in one piece, but

when Greene and Webster County deputies found the trailer, it had been taken

apart and turned into a flatbed trailer.

Fire at Ozark’s Burger King

 Firefighters have battled flames this morning at the Burger King restaurant

on West Jackson street in Ozark. Employees discovered the fire when they

arrived at work around 5:30 this morning. The workers saw smoke inside the

building and flames coming from the roof. Fire crews say the flames did not

spread into the interior of the building, but there was some smoke damage

inside the restaurant.

One Dead, Two Injured in Crash on Glenstone

A person is dead and two people injured after a crash on Glenstone at the I-44 exit ramp.

Springfield Police say a vehicle was traveling north on Glenstone and another was driving south on Glenstone attempting to turn east onto I-44 when they collided.

Two people are hospitalized and one person died at the scene.
