MoDOT Resurfacing US 65 at Saddlebrooke

Heads up if you are traveling to Branson this week.

MoDOT is repaving U-S 65 and will be working in the area around Saddlebrook.

Drivers can expect lane closures, but one lane U-S-65 will be open at all times.

MoDOT says it will have electronic message boards up near the road work to alert drivers.

Large Grass Fire in Bolivar

Several fire departments managed to contain a large grass fire in Bolivar Wednesday.

The fire was just off State Highway “U’ and west of the Bolivar Speedway.

Officials says the fire burned about 80 acres.

Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves One Person Hospitalized in Springfield

A man is in the hospital following an officer-involved shooting in Springfield.

Reports say officer were called to the area of West Florida near Kearney and Atlantic in west Springfield.

Officers say when they arrived, the suspect was seen fleeing the scene and rushed back inside the home.

The U.S. Marshal’s Violent Task Force was conducting the search, when reports say the suspect pointed a weapon at authorities.

An officer then opened fire and shot the suspect. No officers were hurt during the incident.

The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.

Polling in Favor of Recreational Marijuana Vote

Recent polling shows recreational marijuana could be legalized during the November general election.

In a study conducted by Nexstar, Emerson College, and The Hill, 48 percent of Missouri voters polled said they support the amendment, while only 35 percent of voters said they do not.

The bill will be labeled on your ballot as ‘Amendment 3.’

EPA to Hold Meeting About Verona Air Quality

The Environmental Protection Agency will hold a meeting with residents of Verona to discuss air pollution from a plant in the city.

The meeting is Wednesday, October 26th and will include officials from the Missouri Department of Natural Recourses, the Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Occupational safety and Health Administration.

At issue is the air quality around the BCP Ingredients plant, which is part of the Syntex facility.

Former Bolivar School Custodian Charged

An ex-Bolivar School District employee faces sex crime charges involving a student.

Scott Bryson faces four felony charges including child molestation and sexual contact with a student.

Polk County authorities says Byson is accused of touching a female student inappropriately more than once between February and April of 2022.

Bryson worked as a custodian until May of 2022.

Three Men Charged With Stealing In Wright County

Three men are facing charges and are accused of stealing $75,000 worth of property in the Hartville area.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Department says guns, tools, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and car parts were stolen.

The three charged in the incident were Troy Lansdown, Nathan Withnell and Michael Harrison.

Harrison and Withnell are to have preliminary hearings Wednesday morning.

New COVID-19 Boosters Available to Children in Springfield Starting Thursday

Newly approved COVID-19 booster shots will be available later this week to children ages 5-11.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services approved shots from both Moderna as well as Pfizer/BioNTech on Tuesday.

The approval comes following authorization from the FDA and a recommendation from the CDC.

The new boosters will be available on Thursday in Springfield for any child ages 5-11 who is at least two months removed from their last vaccine dose.

Greene County Youth Detention Center New Location

The Greene County Youth Detention Center is in a new location as of Monday.

The group is now located at the former Greene County Justice Center at 1000 N Boonville.

Officials say renovation had been done in recent weeks to improve the safety, security, and privacy of youth in detention, including converting all rooms into single bed spaces.

Record Low Temps in the Ozarks

We have had record low temps in Springfield Tuesday morning and are threatening to break records again on Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service says we dipped down to 22 degrees just before 7 am Tuesday morning, breaking the old record of 25 set in 1948.

Wednesday morning’s low is expected to hit 18, which would shatter the record of 26 set in 1917. 18 degreed is also the all-time record low temp for the month of October, set on Halloween in 1993.
