A woman from Springfield is now awaiting sentencing for two counts of murder in the death of her ex-husband and another woman.
29-year-old Theresa Cox pleaded guilty last Friday to four separate charges; first-degree murder, second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.
Prosecutors accused her of planning the murder of her ex-husband, Alexander Chute and his girlfriend, Brianna Sproul in November of 2020.
Reports say Cox coerced her significant other, Duncan Bogel, into killing the two roughly a month after she lost custody of her and Chute’s four-year-old daughter. The child was in the home at the time of the murders.
Bogle’s jury trial is set to begin October 31 for charges of first-degree murder on two counts, two counts of armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Cox has a sentencing hearing scheduled for October 31.
