Springfield Police Investigating Report of Shots Fired

Authorities are investigating after a shooting incident at a trailer park in southwest Springfield.

Officers responded to the area of South Golden Avenue at Forest Cove South mobile home park.

According to witnesses, an argument began at the trailer park when a woman nearby fired shots into the air.

Reports say the shots were fired to attempt to deescelate the situation.

According to police, no one was injured in the shooting, but the woman is under investigation because shooting a firearm within Springfield city limits is illegal.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Man Accused of Shooting, Killing His Own Father in Monett

Police in Monett say a man has been arrested after allegedly shooting his father over a dozen times.

Prosecutors charged 27-year-old Michael Creekmore Tuesday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Robert Creekmore.

Investigators say an argument between the Creekmore and his father instigated the argument, as Michael had accused his father of abusing him.

According to Creekmore’s statement, he said his father advanced towards him, that’s when he pulled out the gun and opened fire.

Police responded to the area of 2nd Street in Monett after the 27-year-old called to report the shooting at around one p.m. Monday afternoon.

An autopsy revealed Robert Creekmore was shot 19 times.

Person in Custody After Deadly Monett Shooting

One person is in custody after a deadly shooting in Monett.

Police responded to the 400 block of Second Street Monday afternoon and found the victim, Robert Creekmore, dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers say the suspect is a 27-year-old family member, who was arrested without incident.

Authorities confiscated a gun believed to be used in the shooting.

The police chief says officers have been called to the house in the past for disturbances.

Hough Apprehensive Over Parson’s Tax Cut

Some State Lawmakers are expressing concerns about Governor Mike Parson’s proposed income tax cut.

The Governor has called a special legislative session to reauthorize tax credits for farmers and to lower the state’s income tax rate.

Senator Lincoln Hough of Springfield, the Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, says he is apprehensive about what a permanent tax cut will do to investments like education. Hough also says not all Missourians will benefit from the Governor’s plan.

Police Investigate Sunday Night Shooting on Mt. Vernon Street in Springfield

Police are investigating a shooting in the 800 block of west Mt. Vernon in Springfield .

Officers say a neighborhood dispute ended with one person being shot around 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

The victim is in serious, but stable condition at a local hospital.

Authorities say one person is in custody.

Isolated Rain and Storm Chances for Labor Day

We can expect isolated rain chances, especially in the eastern Ozarks on this Labor Day.

The National Weather Service says there is a chance for short-lived showers and thunderstorms, but any storms should dissipate by just after sunset.

No severe weather is expected, and many areas will stay rain-free.

One Dead and Three Injured in Crash at Grant and Meadowmere in Springfield

One person has died and three others are hurt following a crash over the Labor Day weekend at Grant and Meadowmere in Springfield.

Police say a pickup was speeding on Grant Saturday night when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the road.

The truck hit a utility pole, a fence and tree before rolling over, throwing two passengers riding in the bed of the truck.

One of those passengers, Kaylee Fields, 19, Humansville, died at the hospital.

Fields was four months pregnant.

Springfield Police Department News Release On Officer Involved Shooting

Springfield Police investigate officer-involved shooting

Springfield, Mo. – On Sept. 2, 2022, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Springfield police officers were dispatched to the parking lot at 2011 S. Campbell to check a person with a weapon. A male subject at the location was reportedly armed with a rifle and was involved in a disturbance. Information was provided to 911 that the male appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance and had a rifle in his possession.   

A Springfield police officer arrived and encountered the subject, who was armed with a shotgun. The subject refused to comply with the officer’s commands. The officer fired his duty weapon, striking the subject. Officers then rendered aid and the subject was transported to a local hospital where he later died.  

The deceased male was identified as Joshua A. Michael, 37, from Springfield. Michael’s family has been notified.

The Springfield Police Department officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. This case will be presented to the Greene County prosecutor for review.

The Springfield Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).

Fatal Officer Involved Shooting Near Bass Pro

A man is dead in an officer involved shooting near the Bass Pro Shop Catalog Outlet.

Springfield Police Department says officers responded to the parking lot at the corner of Cherokee and Campbell to check a person with a weapon.

Upon arrival, a white man in his 30s displayed a rifle.

Police said a responding officer then fired at the suspect, injuring them.

The suspect later died at the hospital from his injuries.

The situation is still under active investigation.
