Silver Dollar City Employee Injured

Silver Dollar City confirmed an employee was injured incident at the park on Wednesday.

The employee was taken to a Springfield hospital.

Silver Dollar City did not say what the injuries were or where in the park the employee was injured.

A spokesperson for the park said no guest were injured in the accident.

The governor will be joined by Department of Natural Resources Director Dru Buntin, Department of Conservation Director Sarah Parker Pauley, and Department of Agriculture Director Chris Chinn.

The U-S Drought Monitors shows much of the state in a moderate to severe drought.

Explosion Injures Two at Tire Store in Forsyth

Two employees of a tire store in Forsyth have been hospitalized after an explosion at the business.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning when the two were changing a tire on a tractor.

Crews responded to the Tire Crew located on U.S. Highway 160.

First responders on the scene said that the tire had an excess amount of air, which caused the explosion.

No damage to the business was reported.

The two employees suffered moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Central Taney County Fire Protection District Chief Douglas Bower says the two may have also suffered hearing damage.

Springfield Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect after Standoff

Springfield Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with a bank robbery after a standoff at a home in West Springfield.

Officers were called to the Bank of America located on West Kearney Street between North Main and North Farm Road 141 in Springfield Wednesday morning.

Bank employees said the suspect left the bank with cash in hand. Details of the robbery are limited at this time.

A witness contacted police a short time after and informed law enforcement that they located the suspect at the Lazy Acres Mobile Home Park located on West High Street in northwest Springfield.

Reports say after a short standoff, authorities were able to apprehend the suspect without incident.

Burn Ban in Nixa

The Nixa Fire Protection District has issued a burn ban.

Assistant Fire Chief Whitney Weaver says outdoor burning is prohibited due to the hot, dry weather.

Weaver says recreational fires, burn barrels, and fires to control weeds are banned, and anyone who violates the ban can be ticketed.

He says the ban will be lifted once we get sufficient rain.

7th District GOP Congressional Candidates Debate the Issues Live Wednesday Night on KWTO

The Republican candidates for 7th District Congress face off during a live debate Wednesday night on 93-3 A-M 560 KWTO.

The debate will be held from 6-8 p.m. at our studios on east Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.

Speakers Tim Jones and Elijah Haahr will ask questions of the candidates, and each candidate has also been asked to submit questions for the others to answer, as well as a question directed toward a specific candidate.

All eight candidates on the GOP ballot have been invited to participate.

Former State Senator Jay Wasson will not be involved in the debate.

His campaign expressed concerns about the format of the event, and also stated Wasson had a scheduling conflict.

Wednesday’s debate will also be on Facebook Live on the KWTO page.

The other seven candidates on the ballot invited to attend are: Senator Eric Burlison, Alex Bryant, Camille Lombardi-Olive, Audrey Richards, Senator Mike Moon, Dr. Sam Alexander, and Colonel Paul Walker.

Bolivar and Lebanon To Make Schools Safer

After several recent school shootings, two local school districts are taking action.

Bolivar has installed new doors, security cameras, and door access systems.

The district said they plan to install more cameras and move some existing ones.

In a news release, Lebanon R-3 School district said they were going to hire a Director of Public Safety.
