Escaped Inmates from Barry County Jail

Three inmates have escaped from the Barry County Jail in Cassville, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Lance Justin Stephens, Matthew Allen Crawford, and Christopher Allen Blevins escaped early Friday morning, according to a press release on Facebook by the Barry County Sheriffs Department.

In the early morning hours the Barry County Sheriff’s Office had three inmates escape from the Barry County Jail.

Nice Weekend Weather and Rain Beyond

After nice weather being expected over Friday and Saturday, repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be possible from late Sunday through much of next week.

The National Weather Service says the storms will be associated with a front that is expected to be stalled near the Ozarks for several days. We’ll have the potential for heavy rainfall and flooding.

In addition, a few strong thunderstorms will be possible Sunday evening into Sunday night, with nickel sized hail and winds up to 55 miles per hour in a few of the more intense thunderstorms.

Mayor Gives State of the City Address

Springfield Mayor Ken McClure delivered his State of the City address on Thursday.

In his speech, Mayor McClure praised nine completed economic development projects in 2021 and the new businesses coming to town in 2022.

He also discussed the challenges ahead for the city.

The mayor said we need to re-imagine what Springfield can be.

City Councilman Says a Mass Shooting Could Happen In Springfield

A Springfield City Councilman says Springfield needs to be prepared to face a possible mass shooting.

City Council member Craig Hosmer says it is a mistake to believe that a mass shooting could not happen in Springfield.

Hosmer called for city officials to urge action against laws that allow people under 21 to legally purchase guns and let the state legislature know Missouri needs tighter gun laws.

Former Nixa Assistant Principal Sentenced for Child Sex Crimes

A former assistant principal for Nixa Junior High has been sentenced to charges of receiving and distributing child pornography.

42-year-old Colby Fronterhouse was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole.

Court documents show that Fronterhouse solicited a 13-year-old boy into taking graphic sexual images of himself by posing as a 14-year-old girl.

Fronterhouse used a burner phone and engaged over text message with the victim for over a week, encouraging him to take nude photos of himself in compromising positions, and had sexually explicit text messages conversations with the victim as well.

Investigators were able to track the burner phone to Fronterhouse and discovered that he had used school records to obtain the victim’s contact information.

The case was prosecuted by the Western District of Missouri branch of the Department of Justice.

Authorities Release Name of Man Killed in Christian County Shooting

Christian County Deputies have released the name of a man who was shot and killed during a party over the weekend.

Investigators say 46-year-old Robert Winningham was shot and killed at a party outside of Ozark during Memorial Day Weekend.

Reports say Winningham and another person at the party got into a fight, which escalated when he pulled out a handgun.

That’s when authorities say Winningham fired a shot. Another person at the party returning fire, killing him.

Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole says they are still investigating the incident and that no arrests have been made.

Volunteers Needed for Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Springfield needs volunteer drivers to deliver meals.

The organization delivers meals to senior citizens and people who are homebound.

Meals on Wheels president Elaine Garten says the organization has had trouble getting drivers lately, possibly due to higher gas prices. Drivers have to use their cars and pay for gas.

Garten says volunteering takes two hours a day, once per week.

Witnesses Needed in Sedalia Shooting

Missouri State troopers are looking for witnesses to a deadly shooting in Sedalia.

Police were called to a home Sunday night for a report of a man with a gun in a yard. Officers tried to talk to the suspect when he then started shooting.

One of the officers returned fire and hit the man, who is identified as 22-year-old Mason Moore.

Republic City Councilman Deichman Dies

The City of Republic has announced the death of City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Jim Deichman.

He was 71 years of age.

Deichman was elected to the council in 2017.

A memorial will be held Friday at 1 PM at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic.

UPDATE – Name of Lake Springfield Drowning Victim Released

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified a swimmer who drowned Tuesday in Lake Springfield.

The Highway patrol says 35 year old John Hance jumped into the water at Low Head Dam and never resurfaced.

Rescue teams located his body at 8:45 PM.
