Gas Prices: All Time MO High

Gas prices have hit an all time high in the state of Missouri at an average of $3.95 per gallon.

In Springfield, consumers are paying an average of $3.95, which has broken the previous record of $3.94 set on July 16th, 2008, in the height of the recession.

In the last week alone, gas has shot up 16 cents per gallon, and is up nearly $1.25 per gallon more than this time last year.

Scattered Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Friday Afternoon and Evening

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in the Ozarks Friday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says those storms will be scattered and not all locations will get bad weather.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the biggest risks, along with heavy rainfall.

Carjacking Suspect Arrested in Iowa

A suspect in a carjacking has been arrested in Iowa.

Springfield Police say the suspect stole a 2011 Chevy Impala from the Kum and Go at 2161 E. Republic Road on April 30th.

Springfield Plastic Surgeon Facing Assault Charges After Choking Deaf Uber Driver

A well-known plastic surgeon in the Springfield area has been arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly choked an Uber driver over the weekend.

56-year-old Bharat Shah has been charged with third-degree assault after admitting to putting his arm around the neck of an Uber driver early Saturday morning.

Reports say Shah called for the ride just after midnight Saturday, April 7th. Police say a short time later, they received a call from Shah accusing the driver of hitting him repeatedly.

When police arrived at the scene, the driver told authorities in a written statement that he was driving Shah home from a bar in downtown Springfield when he reached over the seat and began choking him.

Authorities discovered that the Uber driver was deaf and mostly nonverbal.

Shah later admitted to choking the driver, saying he didn’t believe he was being taken to his home. Multiple witnesses told police they had seen Shah choking the driver.

A statement from the Wampler and Passanise Law Office, who is representing Shah, said, “Dr. Shah is truly embarrassed and humbled by the attention that has been brought to him and his family.”

Help Police Find Carjacking Suspect

Springfield Police Department needs your help identifying a carjacking suspect.

The suspect is a white male, with short, dark blonde hair, a short beard, and appears to be between 25-50 years old.

The man is suspected of a carjacking on April 30th at Kum & Go at 2161 E. Republic Road.

The vehicle is a dark blue 2011 Chevy Impala that had a Missouri license plate that may have been removed. There are two white stickers on the rear window, and a large dent on the rear drivers side door.

Lawsuit over Arkansas Senate Race Ballot Error

Arkansas Senate Candidate Jake Bequette has filed a lawsuit against two Arkansas Counties after they listed his name incorrectly on the Republican primary election ballot.

With early voting underway already, the two counties in question listed his name as “Jack” instead of “Jake”. Bequette requested a judge to order state and local election officials to fix the error on Craighead County ballots, with plans to add Phillips County.

Bequette is challenging GOP incumbent Senator John Boozman.

Motorcyclist Dies In Crash With Truck

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash at West Bypass and Grand Street Tuesday evening.

Springfield Police say the motorcyclist struck a truck around 5:30 pm.

Traffic was diverted while crews investigated the crash.

Pay Raise for All OTC Staff

Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield has announced a four-percent raise in employee pay. Reports say the raise will affect full-time and part-time employees alike.

It is the college’s largest increase since the 2007-2008 school year. The pay raise comes a month after OTC announced a tuition increase for students, adding over one point five million for the university.

The pay raise is expected to cost the university an extra two million dollars per year.

Congressional Maps Pass MO House

A new Congressional Redistricting Map has been approved by the Missouri House on a 101-47 vote.

The map now heads to the Senate, which has until Friday to approve it and send it to the Governor’s desk.

It’s a solid 6-2 GOP map, but it also protects the state’s two Democratic districts.

C-l-D Takes Over Investigation of Woman’s Death

The Military Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Leonard Wood is taking over the investigation into a woman’s death over the weekend.

Pulaski County Deputies found a woman dead at a home on Skyview Drive Sunday.

A person of interest in the woman’s death was found dead later in South Carolina.

No names are being released at this time.
