More Details Revealed in Case Against Woman Accused in Deadly Fentanyl Overdose

We’re learning more information about a woman from Springfield who has been charged with first degree murder in the death of a man from Greene County.

Jessica McCammon, 42, is also charged with armed criminal action, tampering with evidence, and delivery of a controlled substance in the death of Dan Myers.

Authorities say McCammon provided Myers with a lethal dose of Fentanyl.

Myers was reported missing on March 25th. His body was found April 6th in a wooded area on north Farm Road 167 near Pleasant Hope.

Investigators say McCammon admitted to a witness she overdosed Myers with Fentanyl because he was abusive to her in their relationship.

The witness says McCammon researched how much of the drug it would take to kill Myers, and she became paranoid after losing her phone because it would “incriminate her in Dan’s death.”

Authorities say after Myers died, the witness told them she and McCammon drove to an address on Farm Road 167 where they burned Myers remains and his truck, twice.

Detectives say a cell phone was seized from McCammon’s property, and the phone contained a video with audio from Myers and McCammon the night Myers died.

Investigators say the recording ends with Myers gasping for air and McCammon not making any effort to help him.

More Severe Storms Possible Tuesday Night and Wednesday

Another round of severe thunderstorms will be possible in southwest Missouri as early as late Tuesday night, but become more likely Wednesday morning into the afternoon.

The National Weather Service says any storm potential Tuesday evening will depend on the strength of a cap that’s in place, limiting storm development.

The overall highest risk for impactful weather looks to be Wednesday, when all modes of severe weather are possible, including large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.

An “enhanced,” or Level 3 risk for severe storms covers our far eastern counties on Wednesday.

The Springfield metro area is in a Level 2, or “slight” risk for severe storms on Wednesday, while areas in the western Ozarks along the I-49 corridor are in a Level 1, or “marginal” risk zone.

Forecasters say winds outside of any storms could gust at 35 to 45 miles per hour.

KWTO News will keep you up to date on the latest severe weather information, including watches, warnings, and damage reports on 93-3 AM 560 KWTO.
