With municipal elections taking place on Tuesday, school districts throughout the United States are seeing change, and Christian County is no different.

April Election Returns

Results are starting to come in from Tuesday’s municipal and school elections in the Ozarks.

The Greenfield School District no tax increase levy passed with 72% of voters saying yes to “Proposition Wildcats.”

With 16% of precincts reporting, the Ozark School District no tax increase bond issue is passing with 65% of the vote, while the district’s 10 cent no tax increase levy transfer is passing with 56% of voters saying yes.

Get Greene County Election Returns as They Come in Tonight

A number of key races and issues are being decided across the Ozarks on this election day, and when the polls close at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, we’ll keep you updated on the latest returns coming in from the area.

Two candidates will be chosen to represent school boards in Springfield, Fair Grove, Republic, Strafford and Willard, with voters in the Willard School District also deciding a $29.5 million no tax increase bond issue for safe rooms, secured entryways and classroom additions, safety and security upgrades, and repairing and renovating school facilities.

Also in Greene County, voters in the Ebenezer and Strafford Fire Protection Districts are deciding bond issues for updating and renovating, even adding new fire stations.

Mayoral races are on the ballot in Ash Grove, Fair Grove and Walnut Grove, with Board of Aldermen seats up for grabs in Ash Grove, Willard, and Walnut Grove.

We’ll also be tracking key races and issues in Christian and Webster Counties, plus law enforcement sales tax measures in Barry County and Stone County.

Springfield Police Request Public’s Help in Locating Missing Woman

The Springfield Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in finding an endangered missing person.

Investigators say Kesley L. Marquez, 24, left her home on foot and is without required medication.

Officers say it’s possible Marquez is en route to the St. Louis area.

Marquez is a diagnosed schizophrenic with bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and manic depression.

She has blonde hair and blue eyes, with a flower tattoo on her chest and a Playboy bunny tattoo on her neck.

Marquez is described as white, 130 pounds, 5’4″ tall. She was last seen wearing a red hoodie, black pants, pink shoes and carrying a green purse.

Anyone with information relating to Marquez’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.

Gov. Parson Says He Will Fight to Keep Chiefs In Missouri

Governor Mike Parson said he won’t let the Kansas City Chiefs leave Missouri without a fight.

Governor Parson confirmed Monday that he has talked with Chiefs president Mark Donovan.

Parson said he planned to be at the bargaining table if it reaches that point as well.

The governor said Missouri has been home to the Chiefs for sixty years and he doesn’t expect that to change anytime soon

Possible Tax Break for Missouri Teachers

Missouri teachers could some assistance with their classroom expenses.

A bill sponsored by Kansas City State Senator Lauren Arthur would allow teachers to claim out-of-pocket expenses, such as pencils, furniture and books, on their state income tax.

If the governor signs the bill, it would go into effect on August 28 with the tax breaks beginning next year.

Former Mayor of Lebanon Dies

A former mayor of Lebanon has died.

Stanley “Bud” Allen died Saturday at his home.

He was mayor of Lebanon from April 1996 to March 2008.

A private service will be held later.

Man Arrested in Connection to Two Springfield Shootings

Police have arrested a suspect they believe is responsible for two shootings that occurred in Springfield in 2021.

Darius Adams was arrested Monday and faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

The first shooting occurred in April of 2021 when authorities found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders were able to respond quickly and the victim survived.

The second shooting took place in December of 2021. Officers responded to a report of shots fired on South Fremont in Springfield, where they found 41-year-old Trevor Hale dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe Adams is connected to both shootings. He is being held in jail without bond.
